Does Anyone Know How Many USA spec Merak SS's there were vs Euro Spec?

    Good morning everybody,

    Greg was wondering if anyone might know the total production numbers of Merak SS's built to USA specification as well as to Euro spec. Going through the manuals for USA vs Euro cars there is quite a bit difference between the two e.g. differing compression ratios, differing gear ratios, tire sizes, distributor types etc.

    I have included some photos of the two manuals highlighting some of the differences and of the export price list for Merak SS's for those who are interested. USA manual on top with Euro on bottom. And sorry for photos rather than scans, the documents are pretty fragile so thought this was less destructive.

    From what I've read so far, I believe the US specification Merak SS had the fewest produced, but I do not know production figures. I do know for certain that the US Merak SS did not get the European spec Merak SS 5th gear ratio, rather it kept the standard early Merak 5th gear ratio but does have Euro SS 1, 2, 3, and 4th gears. This was likely due to the US Merak SS and its emissions equipment having essentially zero power increase compared to the early Merak.
