Hey all, my car is at the dealer where they smoked the intake and found air escaping from a bushing in the intake, cause air metering codes on the car. Trouble is, this part doesn't actually exist in a parts diagram as Ferrari only sold it as part of the lower intake manifold which is a $14k part and NLA anyway...

Attached is a bad photo of its location. There is another one on the other side of the manifold. I live 3 hours from my dealer (thats the closest one haha) so I don't have the part in my hands currently.

I found an article from Aldous that (I THINK) is talking about the same part at the bottom of the article: https://aldousvoice.com/2013/01/07/ferrari-360-air-intake-system/

Also see attached screenshot of the comments area, talking about some Weber carb bushings that might fit but he has not had good luck rebuilding them.

Any ideas what I could do here? Has anyone else had the same issue? I feel like this could become common on our beautiful aging vehicles.

See if you can have the part cut at a machine shop. See what material was used.

probably just a pressed in bushing.

I have a spare lower intake I was planning to use to refresh mine if they started to get loose.

I can sell you that one if you get in a bind for one.

but see if they can get the offending bushing machined.

Thanks for the offer! Thats what I was thinking - buy another lower intake, but the only ones I can find are from engine fire cars which seems like a bad idea if I'm looking for a rubber bushing to be in good shape LOL.

And yes I agree, someone's gotta be able to make it. My next step will probably be to drive down there and grab the intake, but wanted to post here first and see if anyone had a solution before I make the drive.

If you can get the bushing out intact, or mostly intact in shape at least, it can be reproduced as a 3D printed part, then a mold made, and then the part cast in an industrial thermoset urethane. The process sounds daunting but is really fairly simple if you have the minimum skills (3D modelling) and equipment (3D printer) required. The cost per unit would be very low, less than $1 but it would cost about $200+ for the raw materials as they can only be purchased in gallon+ quantities. I've gone through this process myself and it was very satisfying.

Make a batch of them. Sell them for $50 each.

Funny you mention it, I actually have some experience with thermoset rubber manufacturing and own a 10 ton pneumatic compression molder that could probably do it a production run, LOL.

It sounds like the first step is I need to get the part in hand and go from there. Will report back.

Caiplers and some bronze bushings and a lathe. Easy job for a skilled machinist. I would find a engine builder in your area this can be done. When parts are nla . You make the part
