Not yet been rebuilding engine. It's on my list for this year. I know a few places in North East, good Luck out there has to be a few places at least.

I did nickel plate the door handles, shift gate, shift knob and door pins though.

I actually was just thinking about this last night and actually looked at my emails and saw this post.
Did you ever get the carpet?
I know you haven't installed it yet.

I keep looking at mine... honestly... don't know how it's faded in some of the spots... its been garaged all it's life. I'm guessing no UV cover on it at some point.

Anyhow -- hope you get to it this year.

My spring project is re-pinning my driver and passenger side wire looms. Can't wait .. LOL

Right the original carpet was not colorfast so it just fades, worse with sun, but it's not required. Really makes the inside look shabby I know.

I bought a roll of carpet but the thicker version as the originals are a bit too lightweight.

The original carpets are a pretty poor fit so rather than use them as a pattern you're better off making a pattern of your own out of newspaper (or whatever dressmakers use) and then cut the carpet to match.

Some pieces are have bound edges so after cutting my own pieces I took them back to the carpet seller and got them to sew the edging on.

The sills need to be glued onto the sill with carpet tack and I'd recommend getting some proper carpet-trimming scissors and a craft knife with the snap-off blades as the blades blunt very quickly.

Very cool, and have been interested in exploring a diy job. Any more photos of you process/results?
