Ok, this part of the future looks fun at least.

Maybe they can also outlaw marriage -what a time and money saver that will be.

If Ferrari builds an electric car with fake sound, I will delete my muffler.

    bingo.

This is why you have so many people here in a bad mood.

    :)

I think the future is quite bright. I can only speak for myself of course.

I hate 'fake' anything in cars—especially vents and sound. I sympathize with the sentiments here, honestly. As far as if this is a speaker or simply a manipulation of the natural electric motor, I don't know.

I pray, of course, the latter, which would be philosophically no different than how current tuners manipulate the natural engine note with piping and resonance chambers.

Engine note quality is subjective, and like any musical artist, you'll have groups of fans, even those that are 'almost' universally beloved. Still, sound, like any song, is up to the ear of the beholder for ultimate judgment.

Folks that hate the sound of X-wing fighters and only accept Mad Max's steed are no more correct than vice versa. Both ears are suitable. I'm fortunate my favorite genre is 80s New Wave, so our 'synth' future doesn't bother me.

Since artificial sounds can replicate any sound in the future, it is a campaign waggon (minus the huge megaphone.) Want your car to sound like a motorcycle, press a button, want to go silent, pull a switch. You can have your car sound like an F355 or as quiet as a mouse, whatever mood suits you.

    Artificial?

Yes, as synthetic as the aspartame in your Coke Zero in your cup holder, as faux as band coming out of your car audio speaker, as false as the fragrance from your last car wash, as fake as the fingers of the massage you're getting from the car seat, and as digital as the map you're looking at from your GPS.
    ***
Hogwash, I only drink sugar, have a full orchestra in tow, fresh flowers in the cabin, a professional masseuse behind me, my trusty Thomas Guide in my lap, and of course - only the sweet, sweet sounds of authentic ICE (and coal roll while I'm at it to prove my 'purity' bona fides further.)

Finally leave you with this thought experiment.

Sound enjoyable by you and everyone around you.
Sound enjoyable by you and everyone around you makes a small penis gesture.

    Which do you choose?

These were the reactions I see standing in front of night club when a Taycan passed by with it's Avengers sound, vs the Lambo that hurt everyone's ears (except the chad with the lion print shirt, that did a fist pump and said yeahhhh!!!!) (seriously, does one #enjoy the proverbial idiot blasting music so everyone and their mom can hear it? complete with the shaking/vibrating trunk?)

The difference is one can be both, maybe you're at a tailgate - so it's apropo to let er' rip. The old paradigm is stuck in one reality no matter the context/situation.

What can I say? I like freedom to choose.

If they can somehow alter the EV sound to make it better without using speakers I'm all for it but as you can hear they have a long, long, long way to go. In this galaxy anyways. ;)

    Forever is a long time.

Just 10 years ago, The model S just came out, and most folks (including me) said it was going to fail.

I get it though, with a future that is only increasing in rate of change, it's scary for most.

The world is as ignorant as its ever been, so there will come a time, when ninety percent of the people with any intelligence left, are all long gone. At that time, it will not matter what they try and sell to the 100 % ignorant, whether its a slot car with fake ICE noise or not. Im glad I will not be around to see it all come to an end. Im part of a select few in the world, that got to own one of the best driving machines ever made, by a company that was once the most incredible motor car manufacturer in the entire world, its really that simple. Im not saying that Ferrari at the present time is not the best, once they eliminate the ICE, all bets are off , then they become just another car company, and that right quick....

So what exactly makes Ferrari the best? Excluding EVs, doesn’t every car have the same exact type of propulsion, I.e. a fossil-fuel burning engine? Yet, Ferrari manages to do something different with theirs, something magical. What makes you so sure they can’t also do something different with an electron burning motor? Won’t all that other stuff (chassis, suspension, steering) still matter? Ferrari isn’t just an engine today, so why are we so quick to dismiss the electric motor Ferrari of tomorrow?

Because Ferrari is art. The ICE Ferrari engine was born with the brand in 1947, and became its heart. And so Ferraris, throughout history, have engines that are pure art in their construction pattern, the "machinery". And they are, in a way, "eternal" if well maintained. You can accelerate today in a 1962 GTO (made 50 years ago), and feel all the emotion of the vehicle.

Will an EV engine even start in 50 years? Evidently not.

There is nothing "artistic", artisanal, about an EV "engine". It is a disposable item.

Certain things are ''art''. It does not apply mass trends in brands of items that are art.

Horacio was absolutely right when he said that it is not possible to build a legitimate Pagani EV.

A digital Patek would never be a Patek, it would just have the logo. Because the raison d'etré is the machinery.

Ferrari has become like a cell phone company and the Apple company all rolled up into one. Pretty trippy to say the least lol . I guess the SUVs are sold out, I hope they have lots of side view mirrors in stock, because owners are going to have theirs smashed to bits by the motorcyclists that they cut off, or worse . We all know that most of the buyers are going to think they are in a tesla, or worse....This spells for more disasters and tragedies. God help us more than ever.

Every since the rotary phone has been eliminated nothing has been the same. Since you can't feel the click click and the turn of the wheel with every dial.. it hasn't been the same. *rolls eyes* The sound of a Ferrari isn't the only thing that sells the car. If it did, nobody would ever change out the muffler right?

You know.. did you ever wonder if you took a deaf person and had them The drive a Ferrari, a Porsche and a Tesla... which one would they choose?
Think about that for a minute.

Everyone gets in a wad over electricity because most Ferrari owners can't drive their cars and electrification won't affect that. The reason I didn't like the Tesla P90 I drove 7 years ago wasn't the sound. It would have spanked my 360 with 4 people sitting in it. It was the road handling. It didn't feel as good as my Porsche to drive. Because of that alone I'll never own one. Driving dynamics is what will matter with electrification. Ferrari already has it and that won't change, same with Porsche. The future will be fine.

And for the rest of us biofuel conversion. I would love to run a Ferrari V8 on pure ethanol especially compared to the EV alternative. We just have to make sure @360trev supplies us all with the needed speed density and cold cranking fuel tables with spark advance maps to accommodate it if we do the mechanical conversion bits. ;)

Many folks think the automotive industry should be like See's candy or Coke.
Where being stagnate is actually part of the equity.

I always wonder how the big 3 got caught with their pants down in the 70s and 80s. Not anymore.

Just glad my favorite car company sees things my way=
