The one on the underside of the press photo does not have the naca ducts either side like all the ones shown so far either.

Since I am on my phone, the link doesn’t direct to the exact post you are referring to. Can you post the pic here?

I recall the part no. on the undertray was written with some marker, not etched.

Correct. Another detail noticed on mine is only the center duct had mesh installed. Two side ducts did not have any mesh.

Just stumbled across an old thread where @INTMD8 asked why his undertray did not have a “notch” seen in the early/promo single-piece undertray.

    https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/355-notch-in-undertray.483409/

I think I have a plausible explanation. Concept of single-piece undertray was to be able to service oil without having to remove the undertray at all. There is a square cover (that’s actually made out of metal, not fiberglass) that when removed, allows drain plug access with torque wrench and your hand to tighten or loosen. The “notch” is probably both for visibility (locating the drain plug) and room for some specialized funnel to capture/guide the oil when it shoots out.

Whether this can be done conveniently on jack stands/low rise lifts is another matter :). I think with the rear right wheel removed and a jack placed carefully and strategically out of the way it might be possible.

The notch and the square cover was ditched as soon as it became a 2-piece design.

    Thoughts?

The NACA ducts are from the challenge conversion kit.

I believe he is referring to the side naca ducts on the center piece undertray, not the rear diffusers.

I got a bit lucky some years ago handing all of my undertray to a local race car start up and asking for them to make carbon fibre versions of my original undertray pieces ...... they charged me AUD$700 if they could use my parts for adverising their business

Prior to the carbon undertray being fitted I broke lots of small pieces off the fibreglass undertray, now just sparks when I bottom out :)

Not sure mate, was done about 8 years ago but I'll ask for you :)

They used my (challenge) parts to create them so will have scoops and ducts "normal" 355s may not have

    Mine was a 1996 challenge

Front left challenge undertray (as shown above) has vents. Center piece undertray/s are the same as a standard car. Your car probably had the 2 piece undertray.

The great thing about having a mold is an original can be placed back into the mold for repair. Chunks missing can be added on while staying within original dimensional spec, while retaining the original undertray. It's a nice solution as long as someone is willing to ship back and forth. Only worth it for heavy damage though, where large chunks are missing. I highly doubt anyone's early undertray is in great original condition. They were fairly flimsy and fragile to begin with.

The most damage prone areas as far as I can tell are the outer side edge walls.

Would be a good idea to reinforce those areas with carbon fiber for added strength.

They're using Kevlar for reinforcement of those prone areas, Ken. Same for the fastener holes.
