I always thought Ferrari drivers had a car on loan as long as they drive for the Scuderia.

They do, diferent acrs for diferent circuits...but this one is a keeper...and he knows he'll be soon gone from the team, so better get it now while they still make him a discount :)

Factory policy has been no discount to the drivers. He purchased the last NA V12 special version of the 812. I would have as well if I could get an allocation. When he fires it up you hear the aural ecstasy and his eyes just light up. Good on you Carlos.

I supose Top driver means you're at least as good as the best in the grid...if that is so, he's far from it. Carlos is a GOOD driver, not a TOP driver...there are a couple of tenths in between....

Legend say Enzo made 40% discount on cars bought by his drivers.
Don't know if this is true ..

No top team should need 2 top drivers. Only leads to conflict.

I rate Sainz very highly but he's 1 step below Leclerc.

In that case, he would have been selling at loss probably.

To my modest opinion top drivers in Formula One right now are Max Charles Lewis Nando George and Lando.
    Not bad I would say..

Realistically, only Verstappen, Leclerc and Hamilton are proven top drivers potentially challenging for the title.
Russell and Norris need more time (and wins) to prove their worth.
However good you are, you are not a top driver with only one win at your tally! (none so far for Norris)
Alonso is the enigma, going from team to team. "Rolling stone gathers no moss". A total waste of talent, IMO, and not a top driver anymore.

    Fully agree
But I rate pretty high Norris and Russell.
    We will see.
    Alonso is always a beast.

That's it, those 5 are the best, but Lando and Smugface are not there yeat...Smugface makes some silly mistakes and his awareness is still lacking a bit.....i prefer Lando, but he lacks the car to show his true potential...Carlos is behind all of them, and between him and Perez i'm not sure, Maybe Carlos a bit faster but in all the rest i think Checo is better....as for Alonso...he's around there, maybe not as fast as the first 5, especialy in qualy, but in race, he's still up there
ps: no, i didn't bump my head, it is what it is, and he's still an ass!

I think Lewis is past his prime, Max will continue to be the tour de force for the foreseeable future, Nando will absolutely crumble at AM (him dealing with the Strolls will be hilarious), Lando hasn't got a hope in hell at McLaren (plus he's locked into that ridiculous contract)...George might come good if Mercedes can do some developmental magic over the next year or two.

I worry for Charles...everyone is always saying he's a gift from God, but he still makes mistakes a la Paul Ricard and demonstrated last season that he isn't quite at the point where he will overrule Rueda's brigade of clowns. The only way he wins is if Vasseur totally changes the way the team works, or Charles learns to tell people to piss off when they're being stupid with strategy.

The future seems to me to be George vs. Charles (at either a totally reworked Scuderia or another team)...maybe a Silly Season will grace Lando with a seat at a top team...only time will tell

Then, there was that time when LDM told Schumacher if he won the race, Ferrari would give him a car (¿F355?). That is pretty close to a 100% discount.

LDM offering an incentive of a 355 to Schumi for winning a race is not the same as Schumi actually purchasing the 355.

Schumi received a gift. He did not purchase the car which means he was not a Ferrari client/customer as Carlos was when he showed in the video at 0.22 the envelope that stated Ferrari customer.

It is interesting to note that Carlos Sainz went for a coupe and not for the aperta (which I am sure he could have had).

What about Michael's FXX and also Enzo? I find it weird if he actually had to purchase those.
