Fellow Ferrari owners, So myself like probably many other got this notice ("Brake Fluid Reservoir Cap" RC 80/NHTSA22V-536) for my 2008 F430. After contacting my local Ferrari dealer service dept. I was told they were waiting for the new caps to address the recall. That was about 6 months ago. When I contacted them more recently, I was told they don't have the "rework instructions" from the factory to proceed. I was also initially told a software update was required. I heard somewhere the software portion was not applicable to the F430 just other models like the 458, etc. I sense I'm getting the "run around". What have others experienced concerning this Recall? This is troubling for a world class company like Ferrari. thanks, Mike in Wa. state
I called my dealer 3 weeks ago about the recall. They advised I had two to be done, the brake cap and the convertible top fluid leak issue. They said that theu did not have the parts (did not specify which) and it would take 5 to 10 days. A week later they said they were ready and my car is now at the dealership (Ferrari Naples). I also asked about the software update and they said that there was no update needed for the F430.
My guess is the cap. I was told by Ferrari of Central New Jersey that they can’t get the cap right now. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The recall parts were released this last week for the 430’s. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I received an email from the service dept at Ferrari of Seattle concerning the recall on Monday, 1/23. It states the parts were recently released by Ferrari. I responded on Thursday, 1/28 and awaiting their reply to schedule.
Mine is at Ferrari of Austin getting it done right now. They were the ones that encouraged me to get it done with some other things I'm having done. I didn't even bring it up.
On the 430 if it’s just a cap can’t I just pick it up and put it on my brake reservoir? I see no need to drive my car to the dealer or risk having it transported. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
You can ask, but I am very doubtful. Manufacturers cannot trust owners will actually replace the cap if sent to them. That is why recalls are carried out through the dealership network to document and ensure compliance.
I did contact FOS and the service gal there said the parts (caps) were received on 1/18/23. I'm just waiting a bit for warmer and dry condition to schedule this. She said they can fit me in any time, and it takes 30-40 minutes for the tech. to do the required paperwork for Ferrari.
Well, at the effort of turning four thumbscrews, the new owner can easily observe the new cap, and sleep like a baby thereafter.
I just called Ferrari of New England and they said they have the cap and it is "cap and software update" ; I have yet to schedule it as tomorrow is way to cold to get out there ... Will do as soon as weather warms up a bit.
And bill Ferrari HQ and arm and a leg, maybe sucked the owner something additional while they are in there.
How did one get this accomplished with no dealer within 5hrs? I'm certainly not driving it 320 miles each way for a cap. Right now I plan on ordering the part, but obviously it won't show complete on a Carfax etc
That's funny, just got mine back from the dealer with the recall done, but when dropping it off they tried to confirm mine was a Scud... I said, that's news to me! LOL . In my case, my car came with aftermarket stripes, so I assumed that was why they thought it was one, but seems this is happening across the board.
810768 a $2.25 part LOL, I think I'll just eat this one. If I ever drive the car to a big city with a dealer, I'll have the dealer check it off at a later time.
Thank you for posting They charge $269 an hour And can't tell an F430 from a Scud because it has stripes? That is SO Sad Means they have no training , or possible experience, in the F430 The differences are dramatic, the interior alone, not to mention mechanicals. I'm glad I work on my own car, and if I do need help, I'm taking it to Fonzie at J. Scuderia If they were surgeons, you'd go in for hip surgery and come out with new knees, 'oh, I thought you said low knee, not hiney!'
