^ wouldnt you lose a lot of living space with a cat shaped haul? is anybody really crossing. the Atlantic in these with their family? i would assume these stay fairly close to shore.

You'd be surprised how much space is in each of the hulls. Engine rooms are typically at the back of each, a bedroom in the middle of each, and closets/toilets/showers at the front. The suspended part of the boat tends to be the communal areas: kitchen, dining room, lounge, and bridge. Sometimes there's a third bedroom up there. These yachts are actually pretty big, as they're much wider than most mono-hull designs.

I'm going to see if I can find out more info about the plans for that one. Looks interesting.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Thanks for AMBR update - went to beach instead yesterday. The feller floating behind the car said everyone called him lefty because of his stump, and I’m like “dude, you’ve got no freakin’ legs!” - and he’s like “duh, but I do have a chihuahua everyone calls Spike”. And I asked if Spike was a floater, too - and he cracked up, so I think we got each other’s humor. Good dude …

Just a heads up, there is no Oakland Roadster Show anymore. It’s been renamed the Grand National Roadster Show. I forgot when they moved it to SoCal it was ‘rebranded’

    The Frua Larks.
Pietro Frua was one of the leading Italian coachbuilders and car designers during the 1950s and 1960s. In 1960 three Lark chassis complete with drive train, instruments and selected hardware were shipped from South Bend to Turin, Italy. These chassis were fitted with hand built Frua designed bodies resulting in a pair of sedans and one coupe with plans to build a thousand more for the European market. Since Studebaker was the only American make producing 'compact' vehicles on a separate body-on-chassis platform it was an excellent choice for European coachbuilders. Auto show appearances followed in Turin and Geneva but the project did not go beyond the three prototypes. Today the two sedans are known to exist and are now awaiting restoration in the US, the coupe may have been lost. Image Unavailable, Please Login

Found 2 pics of the Coupe. Front end close, but no cigar; but the side is very attractive.

And the postscript on Larry's car:
Congratulations to Mr. Larry Erickson for winning my father’s memorial design award at this year’s Grand National Roadster Show for his 1928 Ford Model A. So much went into this built it’s simply impossible to list it all here. When I saw Larry’s dry lakes racer it took me right back to my child hood when I was working with my father He had designed the cockpit area of Gil Ruiz’s #471 29 roadster . We built the canopy and did all the bodywork and paint , I got to airbrush the flat aluminum grill insert to look like grill bars. That was a great time in my life and I was so proud to be a part of the team who built it !! Larry outdid himself on this one and I am excited to see it run !!!
