That’s great to know! I’ve been to Sebring a bunch of times last year and will get the 458 Ch there sometime in the not too distant future.

    That’s some driving there…..130 through Bishops, lol……

That is a beautiful wrap. Have you replaced engine or DCT out of curiosity? Car is raced or HPDE? Mine’s in the shop and hoping to run it next weekend at Road Atlanta.

Endurance racing (8-9 hour events, 5 race wins), some sprint racing, many Challenge practice days. The DCT was replaced at 24K kms as it was beginning to slip. We rebuilt the engine at 30K kms as preventive maintenance, it was running fine -- and it looked like it would run quite a while longer when they opened it up.

Fun fact: the hood timed out at 25K kms - the metal bracing around the front pin mount points had started to weaken from all the use, and the hood would lift slightly at speed. No one had ever seen that before - mostly because the hoods tend to get damaged long before they reach that mileage. Christine keeps her driving clean however, so ...

The 458's just an awesome race car.

Great to hear all of this. My Indy is going through the car thoroughly and will report back. We were having Blackstone perform their oil analysis on the 458 spider, and I will begin doing the same with the Challenge. I believe the mileage here is 9,600 km., so hopefully a little while to go before engine work, fuel cells, etc. We’ll see…….

I don’t plan to race, but will be doing a number of improvements to the car. The DCT in the spider held up remarkably well despite being worked pretty hard on track.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the car itself. Intuitively, I knew it was time to get something more track focused as opposed to trying to turn the spider into a track car. I wasn’t interested in the ubiquitous Cayman or GT3.

Lucky to have support from folks like you who really know these cars. Nothing surprises me about the heavy duty use these cars see. One of my rims had cracked from stress use. Nothing was hit, it simply gave way.

At some point. I will wrap the car with something fun, once I more fully determine its overall condition……..

Is this a racing event or HPDE? I’ve been to Sebring a number of times, but only as an HPDE participant……….

FWIW, I have the car, but not the experience……

Yes. It is a racing event. Bummer. You would really like it. You have to get some experience racing in traffic. It is very important.
It is a really cool event.
