Why not? I remember from many years ago in a Mercedes manual they had a higher maximum RPM allowed in neutral than they did in gear. Never understood why, or why you'd do it. But I have never heard or read any manufacturer say not to rev in neutral. Many Ferraris with conventional ignition we timed at max advance. Daytonas have the timing marks on the bottom so we had someone sit in the car while we layed under it. He'd hold 6500 or so RPM while we read marks. Took a little getting used to.
Thanks so much I cannot wait to drive it this Spring. Full engine out service currently and using a well known and one of the best custom exhaust shops here in the City UNOBTAINIUM - Home Going with titanium X pipe. Major reason is due to the stock exhaust it so heavy and the cats are not in great shape. I assume this will scream haha
Thanks what I thought. I just thought with a custom titanium exhaust obviously its nice to rev it here and there on the spot aha
How many miles on it? I did not think there would be any other black on tan here in Canada haha. You must have bought at a really great price at the time compared to what they are selling for now. I do believe there is much more appreciation holding long term to come.
Yea I suspect not haha I guess YOLO? I try my best to drive slowly witch my other cars when leaving the neighborhood. I actually have no idea how loud this custom titanium X pipe will be.
Beautiful car . I’m in Vancouver with an 1988.5 . Have the 512 wheels on it and tubi exhaust . Also Black with tan ! Love it dearly although I don’t seem to get enough seat time in it Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is gorgeous When did you buy it? Also how does the Tubi sound on the vehicle. Do you have any video clips of it?
Bought it in 2020 . Shame I don’t have any videos but could take/ upload one in the future . She does not see much rain and we do get a fair amount here lol tubi exhaust sounds great especially once it gets some revs . Docile at idle but after 3500-4000 people do start to jerk their heads to see what’s making that sound
I wonder if prices will continue to increase over the next 10 years. I still think at current prices a flat 12 5 speed gated is still a bargain.
Well I paid a lot for mine although in hindsight I might have done ok. Thinking these cars are iconic ( had a black Testarossa poster on my wall with a father that watched Miami vice ) and if one buys a decent example and does not abuse it there maybe worse things to put ur money into … most vintage Ferraris don’t tend to go down although I am no expert .
I think the way the economy is slowing , best not to expect them to continue on the trajectory they have been on for the last five years but that possibly will resume once things stabilize …. Over ten years ? Surely todays prices will seem like bargains imo
I agree totally with that statement. I currently have about 30k invested into the car I ever the past few weeks for get the I tripe to almost perfect again, custom titanium exhaust and full engine out etc. There were quite a few small marks here and there they could not polish out. I could have decided to paint some areas but decided to wrap the whole car in 3m and ceramic coat. I thought people would prefer a non painted and original paint that tells a story ♂️
Agreed ! Couple rock chips is not worth ruining factory paint over …. Like our faces , couple wrinkles don’t hurt , it’s character… more original the better
Yes it is my first . Have some other cool / odd cars that I rotate through . But the TR does get a front row seat in my man cave check my profile for a list of some of the cars if interested
Oh man! you have quite the collection! Haha The only other I own is a 1968 mustang 350w stroked to a 408 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
congratulations on a very, very rare series1 Monospecchio! 95% were Rosso. Be the 85”-86” cars are the fire collectors items. Not many made at all!
thanks so much I am hoping it will be a good long term investment hold as well, but always enjoying to drive the car as much as I can. I still feel they are way undervalued at the moment. Does anyone recommend I purchase a testarossa luggage set to help make the car complete, or would this not really add much to the value of the car down the road ?
I see so many mixed responses on the luggage. But I agree how much more value do you get from having the luggage anyway?
