Warmish Summer night so we opted for fresh sashimi and California rolls.. bought sushi grade salmon, tuna and white fish from the market and sliced thinly. Also bought Canadian scallops and cooked them in burnt butter (in the bowl behind the glass). Served it all with fresh mixed salad with Japanese sesame dressing.. The California rolls were the only pre prepared goodies we bought from our local Sushi Hub.. cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login

White Spot Friday night. Had a clubhouse and fries. Last night I wasn't very hungry, just had a baked-in-the-air fryer potato. Tonight we are either getting Chinese take out or ordering pizza.

Post wisdom-teeth-removal meal (mrs AI, not me):

Tomato soup, puréed peas, smushed fish and mashed potatoes. Surprisingly tasty ;)

While clearly unfit for a certain poster's dog to eat, this nonetheless was my quick "what the heck is left in this nearly empty fridge" dinner last night.

On our recent visit to London we ate at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, 3* restaurant. The pictures from that evening I am sharing, amazing food and ambiance. Also celebrating my daughters 20th birthday.
We also dined at Helene Darroze at The Connaught, 3* restaurant. I would say a great experience, but did not match Ducasse.
I am also sharing the menu from each meal, we also had the wine pairing with both.

Baked all the way in the air fryer or zap it first in the microwave and finish off in the air fryer? How long did it take?

You're a gem to spoil your lady that way. I was born without wisdom teeth. Per my dentist "you don't see that every day!" [emoji2]

    Bacigalupi vineyards ?

My grandmother used to call me that when I was misbehaving! Which wasn't often since such behavior was usually punctuated by a big wooden spoon upside the head.

looks yummy...nice life memory for all. Well done!

I still remember (will likely never forget) the "water service" at Ducasse in NYC (once infamously called "Ishtar the Restaurant" by a NYT food critic). Do they still bring over the water sommelier who proceeds to tell you about your various water options? :D

Baked in the air fryer for almost an hour. Never thought of microwave first.

    Nice

    Funny thing

I disliked seafood my entire life.
    Portugal was torture, I starved.
Even the smell was off putting.

Then one day in my late thirties I was at a friends and for some reason was having such a good time I ate the Paella he had made. OMG it was delicious.

A switch flipped and I’ve been making up for lost time ever since!!

For Valentine's dinner, cooked up steak for the wife. Taste comparison of a 120-day dry aged strip from Edward's and a grass fed, non-aged strip steak from a small town butcher.

Maldon salt on top. Dry aged on left.

Just about done. Used the electric so as not to add flavors above and beyond salt, meat and the Maillard reaction. Cooked the dry aged one a few minutes less as it was smaller.

Splurged on a more expensive bottle of red than we usually drink. Quite fruity for a cab.

All in all it turned out well, although the missus groused a bit about the steak being too rare!

Great umami on the dry aged steak. Would say it was more mushroom level than stinky cheese level! [emoji2]

Lazy superbowl meal for one - I oven-cooked pork ribs for the first time (I've only done previously on the smoker using 3:2:1). And some mashed potatoes. Not bad, was certainly many times easier to throw in the oven for 3 hours and call it good (no spritzing, no wrapping with butter/juice, removing foil, etc).
