Hi All, thought id share a few pictures of the little project I just completed on my 355. i wanted to refresh the air boxes as they were faded and scratched, i have access to powder coating facility's so wanted to do it properly and match OEM finish. firstly i stripped the old paint using a chemical striping tank, this removed all traces of the previous powder coating and left nice clean surface ready for paint. i wanted to match the OEM colour and texture which took quite a bit of effort and trials to achieve, i ran 6 test plates to find the right coating. i then powder coated the air boxes, I'm really happy with the outcome they are a very close match to the originals and look amazing. I'm thinking of offering this as a service if there is demand for it as I have done the hard work already.
I just had my air boxes powder coated and they came out perfect. I also had the silver lines on the intake pinstriped by hand. Highly recommended!
Those look great!!! I was going to powder coat my airboxes. stripped off all the old paint & then decided to leave it as is. I can always paint them at a later time. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
be careful they don't start to corrode, they will be hard to paint and look good if they start to get pitting in the surface.
