    Thank you, Prancing 12, for these valuable points.
    In number 2 above my acquisition price was €450k from an official Ferrari dealer in Europe (2012), so the taxation would be €11,125 making it $12,000.
    That is quite a good deal (vs if the car is bought by an American now while the car is in Europe through a dealer and he will pay 2.5% on his purchase now of circa $4-5m. That is a saving of $100,000!

    FYI The import duty will be based on the market value of the car now, not what was paid years ago ..

    “Classic or antique vehicles are subject to a 2.5% duty rate, which is based on its worth at the time of import.”
