Like the title says, what does the Light Sensor on top of the dash do? Secondly, has anyone added auto headlights on?

It's a "sun radiation sensor." It is used as part of the automatic climate control to adjust the temperature.

Taken from another group for better explanation:

"A solar radiation sensor mounted within an automotive vehicle can accurately detect solar radiation heat influx due to rays of sunlight falling upon the vehicle. The detected heat influx value is used in controlling an automotive vehicle air-conditioning system to adjust passenger compartment air temperature, more specifically to determine an appropriate air conditioning air mix door opening percentage. The sensor is part of the AUTO air conditioning system."

Not exactly auto headlights BUT my Canadian 360 has DRL (Daylight Running Lamps) and I have not touched the light switch in 9 years

With the Scud Ing Swiss LED accent light for the front, I just leave my switch in the first setting since it's basically like an LED DRL.

The lights turn off when the key is switched off, correct? I believe the "P" in the center console turns on parking lights but they stay on even after key is removed.

That is correct. They're only on when the car is turned on.

It's the car's nipple. Feel free to grab it and twist it if you want your car to go faster.

That one is too. They are kind of lopsided. If you pinch them both while going 88mph you go back in time.

Since delivered in August 2023 my 296 GTB has had the following issues that I now believe is due to a faulty light sensor:
    1. Headlights often on during bright sunlight
    2. Driver displays too dark during daylight
    3. Automatic windshield wiper does not work.

I expect that Ferrari will replace the sensor later this month.

Hooray! Ferrari of New England found that the light sensor was not properly adhered to the windshield. (problem since car was delivered new). Sensor was cleaned of old "glue" and properly adhered to the windshield which resulted in clearing up the issues of headlight sensitivity, automatic windshield wiper not working, and HUD being too dark.

So no risk of coming back to a dead battery right?
