Hi all. Trying to decide between 2 Portofinos. Both are similarly equipped with similar mileage. Both are priced within 5k of each other as well.

One is TDF w cuoio but no shields. It does have the premium hi fi which I do want. The other is black on black but lacks the hi fi option. I’m not bothered too much about the shields but I am a bit concerned about resale value. I know they are a must have option for many. I like the black car as well but read the base stereo is pretty bad.

So the question is are shields that important to have and/or is the base stereo that terrible that hi fi is a must.

    Appreciate any opinions. Thanks

I think I’d go for the shields, I never have the radio on when driving my Ferrari, the sound of a car is all I wanna hear. :)

Cars are so different vibe wise due to color combo. I would go with which one you like more. Stereo is easier upgrade but neither are deal killers. Imho

TDF and Cuoio is a killer combo!

Shields are a nice option however many customer order without.

Blackmon black would be a bit nondescript IMO.

I never turned the radio on once in either of my Ferraris over 12 years of ownership-- and I doubt I'll ever turn it on in my F8 that arrives in a few days and it has the premium hi-fi option.... and Ferraris without the shields just don't look right or good to me..... All my Ferraris have been black including the F8 sooo my answer is obvious lol.

I find the shield break the lovely lines of Ferraris
And they are primarily cash grabs from the factory
    Blue on tan, so nice

Wow so many quick responses. Thank you all. The same dealership has both cars so I’ll get a chance to listen the both stereos. Another thing I like about the black car is that it has the CF dash and center console.

Well I was going to post but Mike's is identical ^^^

<EDIT> Black w shields AND CF DASH CONSOLE</EDIT> all the way- I currently own two Ferraris and have owned four and have absolutely no idea if "the stereo" works/worked in any of them.

Well if it's about resale I definitely think more people would care about iconic shields vs a stereo in regards to a Ferrari

I actually forgot to mention that I didn’t order the upgraded stereo for my Roma and although the sound is OK, I wish I had have ordered the upgrade since I ordered the car and the extra really isn’t that much.

Agree on stereo. Have the upgrade on my 812 GTS and it sounds fantastic. Don’t have it on the f8 and it will be upgraded. I put a lot of miles (weekly bw sf and Sonoma) on my cars so after 15 minutes doing 80 in 7th on the freeway….yeah, stereo comes in handy.

Another vote for the shields vehicle. They cannot be applied aftermarket properly whereas the stereo can be easily upgraded.

I ordered a Portofino M with both options but viewed the Premium HiFi sound system as a non-negotiable option. My 488 Spider had it but my California 30 does not and is a key reason I am upgrading the Cali to the Portofino (I basically replicated the Cali in the Porto but with the HiFi sound).

  14. I would keep looking.

Lots of Ports on the market.

I would not buy a Ferrari without shields.

And since you like the premium stereo, you should not have to compromise at this price point.

    Keep looking.

In my opinion, the Cali/Porto line looks better with the shields, the side seems a little empty without to my eye. I don't like displaying advertising logos but did get the shields on my black/black car with white stitching.

Miller Motorcars has a TDF/cuoio and black/black (with yellow stitching and seat belts). The cuoio interior is quite pretty to my eye but that seat color does pick up blue jeans color over time at the rub points. For that reason I got black interior even though the cuoio lightens the interior significantly.

Stereo system in a Ferrari may matter to some. I can't recall listening to it in any I have had over the years. A good step to do on stereo is to listen to them side by side at the dealer. But do remember that top-down driving makes the stereo close to useless.

Visiting at the dealer, you may get a good sense of the color combo that feels good to you and to see if the differences in stereo systems matter to your ear. In terms of resale, color combos (including yellow stitching and belts) have variable appeal. It does seem the shields are more common present than absent on the Cali/Porto series.

The cars I am considering are those 2 vehicles at Miller! I will compare the stereos but I think I’ll just wait to find one with both options in addition to my other must haves, carbon wheel and magma ride. Shields are common but hi fi is a harder to find but they are out there. Thanks to all for the comments.

Miller Motorcars is my dealer and super happy with them. I saw both Portofino's when I was there a few weeks back. They are both beautiful cars.

I have to admit, I did not even catch that the blue Portofino did not have shields when I was there.

Yes I didn’t notice the blue didn’t have shields for a few weeks. Both are nice but probably keep looking

TDF is such a great color and black is a full time job. However, Porto looks good in black. I would go with overall condition: paint, PPF, interior wear.

I agree I think the Porto looks better and a bit more aggressive in a darker color, Grigio Silverstone as well perhaps, but I’ve always love TDF.
