I assume when the original speedometer is not available or not with the car they just change the mileage to what the records state? During the car’s original federalization, the speedometer face was converted to display in miles, however, the odometer calibration remained in kilometers. As a required component of the Classiche Certification process, a speedometer unit with the correct kilometer-indicating face was sourced and fitted; as noted on the 22 August 2022 Continental Auto Sports invoice on file.
Although that makes sense I would not assume, in any case, the original speedometer not being with the car is not a favorable scenario.
Sad. With most cars I understand it. Losing track of original parts. But with GTO we knew it was a special car from the day Maranello announced it. Same goes with F50 exhaust systems. Was it so hard to keep it all in boxes in the garage?
I was in Miami a few weeks ago and stopped by Curated to look at the 288. The salesman told me that one of Ralph's sons wrecked it back in the day and showed me the evidence to support that claim. Does anyone know how badly it was damaged? I'm sure that regardless of damamge, it was fixed as best as possible.
That GTO was looked after for years by Berlinetta Motorcars of Huntington, New York, and they would know it's early history.
I received several phone calls today from RM asking if I had anyone that would be interested in this car.. my answer was pretty simple, not with out its original speedometer. It’s just another part to explain and thats the problem,
Always true, that said I know more than one party that's interested in it so perhaps it'll still go, by the way the link to the records that need to united with the car has been disconnected as it's likely someone who reads FChat has purchased the items in anticipation of the auction - smart move.
I might be mistaken, but weren't the bumpers shown as painted body color when the listing for 56773 first appeared on RM's site?

Does anyone know if #52483 is still in Italy, I was last aware that it was registered on RM 65922V Italian (Roma) plates, I believe it was first registered on the 1st of March 1996 and isn't currently insured on these plates.
