This is where I'm going to send mine. He turns them around in a day or two.

It does seem your path is slightly clearer. Did you cut any loom fasteners to move some wires away? I was considering that as a next step.

I did this a few years ago and remember it was horrible task. There is no access to the top screw as the expansion valve is in the way. In the end, after a few hours of struggling, I used a flexible extension with a Philips bit for a drill, and if I recall correctly, was able to push it between the 2 AC lines into the expansion valve which gave a direct shot at the screw. Getting the screw back in was not any easier. For what it's worth, the 575 WSM says to remove the dashboard and the entire evaporator assembly from the car to change the fan controller. I had my dash out this past winter, and if I ever have to change that controller again, I will be pulling the dash. Removing the dash is an easy job and access is "slightly" better with the dash out of the way, you can attack that top screw from above.

I've still not got around to this. How long do you estimate it takes to remove and refit the dash?

I'd say about 2 hours to remove and the same to put back, but it always takes a lot longer the first time you do something, so I'd say if you were to allow for a weekend, you will have more than enough time to slowly and carefully remove the dash, replace the fan resistor and put the dash back in.

This link will help you. It looks more complicated that it is.

Would someone mind sending me this as a PDF it they can view it? Even though I created an XPowereForums account, it still won't allow me to access this write up in particular for some reason. Thanks!
