What is the cost of one of these bypass units guys? I have a question also about the 575 ecu, can an F1 version be used in a manual car or even a 612 spec ecu? or can they be easily tweeked to work in a manual? I need a pair of 575 ecu for a manual car, and given that a manual 575 is as rare as rocking horse poop then the only used ecu available tend to be F1 spec. It could well be that although they have a different part no they are essentially the same, I am guessing that the F1 version has some sort of lock out based on what position the f1 "gate" is in at start up. Both gated and F1 575 use the same pair of ecu harness.
Different ECUs for manual and F1 575Ms, 612s, and 599s, not interchangeable and nobody knows the internal differences. Early 612s use the same Motronic 7.1.1 as 575s, but with different mapping, connectivity, etc. 3 pedal 612s are about as rare as 3 pedal 575Ms. Not sure 612 Motronics would talk to other 575M ECUs. Plus a bunch of engine changes from the 575M to the Superamerica and 612. Pound and euro are in the toilet, so best choice is to buy them. Have seen a couple on E-Bay that Ferrparts had. Might give them a call. Not much of a market for 3 pedal Motronics.
Thats a bummer, wonder if the ecu doctor can crack them. The pair of engine harness are exactly the same part number between 3 pedal and F1 so the ecu both read the same sensor info. If anyone spots a pair of 3 pedal ecu for sale for a 575 anywhere in the world can you please let me know. I have been offered F1 spec versions for £250 each / $350 US but its a gamble.
Does anyoneknow where the immobilizer sits? I have a problem with my 456, the alarm goes of when driving. so i wanted to find the immobilizer, found here that it should be located behind the side trim on the rh aft seat, but there is nothing there. Obviously it has to be somewhere else. The fob cancels the alarm, and car starts, but its kind of ennoying that it comes on again and again.I want to delete the whole system. (Car is a 1995mod)
1995? According to the parts manual, there wasn't an immobiliser fitted until the 5.2 Motronics was introduced in 1996. https://www.eurospares.co.uk/Ferrari/456/456_GT_GTA/PartDiagrams/134/Anti%20Theft%20Electrical%20Boards%20and%20Devices%20-Valid%20for%20Motronic%205.2 Experts? Do you have some kind of aftermarket immobiliser?
Ian- Affirmative, no 3 fob system on 2.7 Ferraris like on the 5.2, 7.3.1, and 7.1.1 Ferraris and no factory immobilizer.
Ok? I dont know, but id does not look aftermarked. The siren is the same as on fex 355. Wiring to siren is ( or look) like its original. I can not startthe car without pushing the button on the remote. ( starter goes, but no fuel and ignition) Thats all i know by now. Will really appreciate if someone knows where to dig.
I don't think there is anything special about the siren, as it is found on Corvettes. I don't know if that's a clue or not. The F355 immobiliser system, for example, allows engine cranking on some cars, but not on others. It depends on the year of manufacture (and possibly delivery country). As far as I know, on all 456M's and 550's, the Immobiliser ECU controls a starter relay. What I find strange is that the alarm goes off when you are driving. There seems to be independent circuits in the Immobiliser ECU for immobilisation and for the alarm. There are a few similar posts on FChat suggesting this, too, but I don't know for sure. Note that there are no immobiliser circuits in the 2.7 Motronic ECUs, so you almost certainly have a 5.2 car. Otherwise, you have an aftermarket system. How sure are you that you have a 95 model? Do you know how to tell the difference between a 2.7 and 5.2? I don't know if there are any ways of identifying the 5.2 system on a 456 without pulling the car to pieces to look for part numbers. Unfortunately, all the alarm components are well hidden and there is lots of shielding. It's almost impossible to use a wire tracker to find components. I did read that you have to remove some rivets to access the Immobiliser ECU. Is it possible that the ECU is next to the rear RH seat and you just can't see it?
