Sorry for chiming in late, Shannon's Insurance is moving away from personal interactions with their customers, to much more digital
I don't think Shannons are competitive on later models cars. Got a quote yesterday from the RACV on a new purchase $1,000 cheaper with the same conditions and excess.
Agreed. In the last 12 months I’ve removed the Ferrari and Evoque from the insurance and added a Tiguan and the convertible (ie. about $150k less in value) yet the insurance went up over 20%. Ridiculous.
When I got my quotes recently for my purchase, RACV were more competitive by some margin for their basic comprehensive. But to get like for like with Shannon’s, ie agreed value and choice of repairer, you need to go for their ‘upgraded’ comprehensive (complete care). In that case, Shannon’s were cheaper.
I don't know the answer to this question. " With the right to choice of repairer ..Does the insurance company still negotiate the hourly rate and the overall cost of the repair ?
While I use Shannons for the old cars, I've just insured my most recent purchase a 991 Porker with Famous Insurance, around 1.6k cheaper than any other insurance quote (Shannons) right of repairer as well.
Famous were really good a couple of years ago..I had all my cars with them..Last year they changed into brokers so they moved a couple of my cars to Dawes which was nearly twice the price..The rest I moved back to Shannon’s..
They used to do a lot with historic racing and were underwritten by the big insurance company in QLD..Used to be half the price of Shannon’s but lost their underwriting a couple of years ago which was a real shame….
