I’ve joined the Maserati community. I wanted a decently restored Vignale Spyder and found 101.1107 at Gallerie Aaldering in the Netherlands. It reached our home in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA on Friday.
Lori and I drive our cars quite a lot and enjoy organized tours, we’ve even shipped two of our Jaguars to England for the XK70 events (70th Anniversery of XK120 introduction) at Shelesly Walsh Hill Climb, and E60 recreating the “Run to Geneva” when Etypes were introduced. I’m two years into a full restoration of 1938 Jaguar SS100 #39064, so wanted a fun, low production, driveable convertible applicable to tours and shows.
I’m a retired Mechanical Engineer and prefer to keep our collector cars authentic and as if they were 6 months old, and capable of a cross country drive on short notice. I’m semi successful at that…and have my share of fix-it-beside-the-road stories.
This forum is great and I’ve been reading all the highly useful comments to help me sort out the authenticity upgrades #1107 needs. Air duct hoses, correct coils, decals, cam cover washers, etc etc. It’s fascinating how many parts are similar to Jaguars, I already have all sized of Cheney clamps for example. All inputs and advice are welcome.
I have a 3 inch stack of history documents in German and Italian, even a two page document from Walter B in 2012 about this Maserati.
Again, any advice, history, and inputs are welcome. And we will see you on a tour. Dave and Lori.

    Nice Maserati, love it.

FYI your air cleaner box is installed upside down. The vent/drip screens go on the bottom. And it's missing the FISPA decal and cleaning instructions. I've got some of the decals in original yellow and teal/blue if you need one.

    Ciao and best!

Very nice to see a vintage Maserati coming to the USA instead of fleeing it! ;)

WOW! Your new car looks great! Love the color combination. I did things the opposite of you; I found my 3500 GT first, then graduated to the XK 120!
Look forward to hearing of your fun with all types of your cars!

Breaks my heart to hear these questioned on occasion. Some have said they are overweight and underpowered, but a 250swb cal spyder is pretty much identical in power to weight. The Maserati 3.5L is a REAL 230-240bhp. Ferrari 3L v12 is not making more in Cal spider trim. Give me the Maser any day. Absolutely adore these
