I saw this picture online. Under the Auto button there is an L.C. button. What is that? I never seen that before, on my car I only have R and Auto.

I had a feeling that's what it meant. Why don't I have it? and why haven't the cars I've seen had it? was this an option or something?

I don’t think cars from all markets have it.
    Europe/Uk spec cars do
    US cars don’t

Not quite sure about the other global markets

Very interesting! Wonder why.... It's standard on the European spec? or an option?

There's apparently a series of button/paddle presses that enable launch control on US cars. Like a Nintendo Contra style combo.

All RoW spec cars have LC. North American cars don't have it. Not an option, standard spec.

Pre MY08 cars have around four presses of that before the clutch is nearly toast. Dealers here used to check the number of applications via SD3 diagnostics.

MY08 and later can take many applications of LC without significant detriment to clutch life.

It was both hardware and software updates with an aim of improving clutch control.

The F1 system on 2008 and up is different than the earlier cars. They are better on clutch life and shift between the Scud and pre-08 F430 times. It's not just software.

There were significant changes to the F1 gearbox (software/hardware) on the later cars.

I can implement launch control in the engine ECUs far far better and more effective than in the TCU, without the loss of clutch after 4 runs!

To me it's rather an idiotic way to accomplish this using the TCU..
