That is a self inflicted wound. There are good people for that all over the country but that Daytona owner took it to idiots for one of 2 reasons. Either it was convenient or it was cheap. I have rebuilt quite a few and there isn't a part in it we cannot buy.

There are quite a few actually but they too often get missed in these conversations because they don't do it on the cheap. MPI up in Wisconsin takes care of a storage building full. Say the word and your car and crew will be delivered wherever you want ready to rock. Same with Bob Smith, Pocono Sports Cars, Butch Dennisons old place. I could sit here for half an hour writing places down.

Want to be cheap, run a Miata. Want to live a dream, break out the check book, this hobby isn't for paupers. Lots of talent out there and at this point they just are not hard to find.

We might have a different definition. Its a simple gearbox. I have done complex gearboxes and that is not one.

I don't want to go any further because I'll probably get it wrong. It had something to do with splines and significant amount of monies were spent in well-known shops with less than optimum results.

Except for syncros and bearings no original parts have been available for a very long time. They have to be made. There are 2 or 3 doing that well.

I know where a brand new one is sitting in a garage but he still owns the car and until that changes the spare trans and engine are not going anywhere.

These cars where made by a man’s hands in a time with out CNC machines

I’m pretty sure they will be someone who can make any part need

    It comes down to cost

Look at what Leno is re-creating in his shop

cars from the turn of the century

Yes he has the $$$ to do so but if you are a owner of a 275 I would think you have the means to do the same

Cars and Coffee yesterday, drove 100 miles in a big rainstorm, weather cleared and about 300 cars showed. California may be the only place where you can unload your mid-60's GT 40 and be told to "park it by the other one"
It was a nice day with some interesting cars,Malcolm

Awesome pictures of cars that actually matter. I live in Houston, used to go to shows....it got really tedious going row to row seeing just mundane high production 21st century cars that all look so similar. So few 21st century cars are really special.

Perhaps it's not set up properly.
My 1 1/2 is teriffic at high speed due to great suspension using GAZ adjustable shocks and 'proper' tyres and not the Chinese one's it came with. .

Try some GAZ shocks, the tyres should be fine if they're not old.
I have Dunlop Sport and with the shocks it sticks like s**t to a stick.

Sorry to the OP for the hijack.

On topic,I had a '64 330 2+2 that also was set up for road and track, lowered with slightly harder springs and Koni shocks.

For folk under 30 years of age it will be nigh on impossible to understand the involvement of any classic(you call them vintage) sports car until you're given the opportunity to drive one properly.
I will share driving any of my cars with any 'qualified' person.

Thank you for the solid advice, but I try to keep it as original as possible. Even though I must admit that I am looking into the power steering options, as well the A/C.
