Kind of nice to fill up the wheels with brakes, plus anchor-like braking, no dust, really long rotor life, huge pads and swept area. Kind of expensive, though.

With Fabio's headers, cats, double H, and rear mufflers, my car dyno'd @ 495 (439 before installation), so that will give you somewhere between 50-60hp. The car now has over-axle pipes and Trevor's tune. It hasn't been dyno'd but will certainly be a good amount over 500whp. @360trev can probably weigh in here. I do agree that these motors are fabulous and as a Mezger enthusiast myself, look at the Tipo 133 through the same lens as you.

I like the 599 seats functionally - they're absolutely fabulous to sit in, but I don't think they carry that 90's charm that the Maranellos sport, which is why I defer to Pole Positions!

@rbp I agree that seems more like what I'd want, based on my 550 with the standard relay. I plan to give the MSW relay a go, but it seems at very low speed I'd prefer less assist than stock.

Tazandjan, Are those the stock optional 19" modulars or aftermarket? If aftermarket what company did you get them from?

Mostly to do with pedal feel and keeping the car original as possible.

I like the idea of low brake dust pads. I need some for my G-Wagon!

I will find out the name of the shop for sure and I look forward to catching up with you so we can go for a drive soon!

Pedal will feel the same with big brakes. 575Ms do not need a different master cylinder or booster for bigger brakes. The HGTC brakes use the same master cylinder and booster as the vanilla 575Ms. Mine has the same master and booster she did from birth. No difference in feel with my ceramics.

I have always found Carbon brakes to have less pedal feel than steel brakes. Especially when cold.

Not mine. Work fine when cold. Have not tried CCMs, so no clue on those.

Curious why that would be? Master cylinder/booster over-engineered to start? Or different friction mechanics on your brakes vs. factory.

IMO the 575 brake pedal is a bit light for my taste. Anyone else have this view?

Was hoping uprated braking system could improve this, although could be as simple as different fluid and pads (or just a flush).

Factory HGTC upgrade from standard Maranello on my ‘02. Significant change in pedal feel and bite. Just to qualify my comments, I am not a track guy but do enjoy my car. Have no complaints about how the car steers (FHP ecu), rides (suspension ecu, HGTC springs, bar) or brakes.

Flush and HPS pads helped a bit - I had the same feelings.

Since you are going to be tracking the car, the Brembo GTS is a nice option as it provides a bit more tech, will not discolor as easily as the GT systems and is much cheaper than the GTR systems.

If you are going to track a Maranello, also helps to have better brake cooling. On Bill's 575M, he also got the HGTC front underbody panel with brake cooling hose connections. HGTC also came with front upper A arms with fittings for the brake cooling hoses. Do not remember whether Bill got those or not. Cooling hoses really help keep brake temperatures down on tracks.

rbp- In general, the Maranellos were overbuilt compared to the V8s because of the extra weight, especially on the front. Suspension components are beefed up considerably, as are transaxle components because of the extra torque. The actual brake rotors and calipers, however, are early 90s designs and were not upgraded except for FHP pads and the HGTC option in late CY 04. Luckily, the master cylinder and booster can handle just about any upgrade.

Congrats with you new super 575!

I have my doubts that you will not try this car fast. When you empty 5th and engage 6th....., it has the same surge as in 5th! I can almost guarantee you that it will do 340 kph. which is 211 mph. You should ask you local sheriff if he can reserve a good long stretch of American highway for you :) These cars have real power and are very slippery when you work your way over 160 mph. My 550 with 105.000 miles on the clock still pass 300 kph. and jumps up to 330 with ease. Your 575 is probably much more powerful! Best of luck and keep us posted.

Wow! That is a really big number!

I did 325 KPH in my Pista and it got up there real quick!

I also did 300+ in my F12 in Europe and it was fun too.

Did you see this guy in the Daytona??

    Those speeds are intense.

I ran the Cannonball Run One Lap of America in 2006 and have always wanted to do a coast to coast in an American classic “period correct” car…..I’ve always been a cannonball junkie and following all the guys that have set COVID cannonball records are really crazy doing over 2800 miles nonstop with averages well past 100mph for over 24 hours….

the “speed adrenaline” the first few hours cruising deep past 110mph is intense to maintain that average.

At least in 2014 I saw and asked Dennis Collins at SEMA and he said it was in his collection. They also have the junk yard Jaguar that hasn’t been restored.
