    Hi, during my reading the posts about UAE, I noticed mostly negative opinions about the location, posted 10 - 15 years ago. Are there some fresh thoughts about it?

    GCC in general is awsome, and my happy place on this planet, in my opinion EU is way way waaaay worse as a place than the GCC is

    Very much agree. Won't delve further into P&R but the P's of that is a reason where I won't be surprised to see myself end up there full time.

    Bas, you are very much agree with what? DutchFerrari is out of GCC now and his thoughts about UAE could be correct but not fresh. So, do you live in UAE or you remember your past life by typing your comment? Regards.

    My short conclusion after one month of living in UAE, Sharjah.
    It is a stone jungle, filled mostly with millions of migrants from India, Kerala state. Thefts (bikes, wallets, juwellery) are common things there. I did not see any richness in UAE, its a labour camp, located in desert. Is it a safe place - I do not think so. Road traffic is terrible, if a road signal does not work - a road crossing is a quest. Real estate market is a huge bubble.
    UAE as a place for short visit, may be, no more then one time, for long living/working - never.

    I've been living in UAE for 4.5 years and overall I like it a lot. This place definitely suits me better than Australia where I lived for 11 years prior to coming here. But that's just my personal experience and circumstances, everyone's different

    Could be, why no? May be my one month of the living in the country is not well enough to understand arab's life. What about spiders and snakes in Australia? Is it really so dangerous?

    don't believe everything you read in mass media :) Australia is pretty safe from this perspective, especially in major cities. You have to be careful out in the bush though

    Yes, you are right, it comes from mass media. 8 years ago I met two men in Goa, they were from Australia also, were born there. My question about venomous fauna in Australia was a bit funny for them.

    I know a lot of people who are moving there, mainly because it being tax free and they've been offered serious money jobs

    lots of negatives about the place too but there are a few positives in my view

    money, no tax, crime is low, nice and warm and a good place to travel to nice parts of the world from

    Endless mantra. There are clear beaches and cheap food also. Amen!
