    Thought it might be helpful to document the current new car order process to delivery(not yet) for first time buyer and prospective first time buyers. so here is the timeline:

    November 11, 2021 - PLACED order with deposit for Portofino M made initial config. No trade-in, no financing. not first Ferrari, but first Factory order.

    January 2022- Ferrari "accepts" my order, puts me in Waitlist status and includes 24 month estimated date for delivery. Dealer tells me it will be sooner than the 24 months estimate.

    early 2022- the books close on ALL Portofino M orders
    Silence.
    June 2022- Dealer invited me to Ferrari lunch event. no updates on Car status. Pushed to order a 296 in addition.
    Silence
    November 2022- Dealer calls to inform me of $9k price increase and walks me through creating a FIRM options configuration in case the factory has opening(allotment) in "very near future".

    I'm very confused about timing as my neighbor takes delivery of a 296. ???? how is this possible.

    2/23/23- Dealer calls me to tell me that my car is headed to Paint Shop in a few days. Did I get updates on Ferrari owner App? NO, NOTHING

    2/23/2023- I update Ferrari App and it gives me a VIN, but still shows me on waiting list?? It also shows a slightly different config than I agreed upon. some small confusion, but, the App is not known for 100% accuracy. call the dealer tomorrow.

    At the risk of sounding unsympathetic, your timing seems highly similar to that of others, including myself. The unsolicited updates from your dealer are a nice benefit.

    Allow me to peer into my crystal ball and see that the app config now shows PDIS? You might be in for a bumpy day…

    I've posted this elsewhere, but here is the timeline for my wife's Portofino M. The app will show "waitlist" until after you pick up the car:

    ordered 3/27/21 ($10k deposit)
    allocated 2/23/22 (e-mail from dealer)
    VIN 4/16/22 (MyFerrari App)
    first picture 6/1/22 (MyFerrari App)
    second picture 6/8/22 (MyFerrari App)
    loaded on a boat 6/9/22 (e-mail from dealer)
    third picture 6/11/22 (MyFerrari App)
    confirmed at Port of New Jersey, waiting for customs 8/20/22 (e-mail from dealer)
    on a truck headed to San Diego 8/29/22, (e-mail from dealer with final invoice and wiring instructions)
    arrived at dealer 9/7/22 (dealer prep, PPF)
    picked up 9/23/22
    app switched from "waiting list" to "owned" 10 Oct 2022

    If you are in the US it will be delivered through Port of New Jersey. Once it has cleared customs and been put on a truck, your dealer will get the invoice and send you wiring instructions.

    You have me intrigued with your correct guess about PDIS, that is in fact the case. Did you experience the same? How did it turn out?

    What is my bumpy road?.....

    Got it.
    It appears that the option is being added to these final-build PM’s.
    The bumps may result from learning of the corresponding $5906.

    Now this makes more sense. I specifically discussed that option with the dealer and decided to not include it, but now it is included in my app. I called the dealer and he thought I decided to get that option. Don't know how he would remember something from a year ago. At least we get something for the increase in MSRP :)

    Like you I ordered mine in 8/2021, got vin number on app in december, first pic in app in february, and dealer said should be end of march to end of april delivery.

    3/6/2023- from my dealer today ( not unsolicited, I was asking for a factory tour and he just dropped this on me-

    "Your car has completed production and is currently in testing/QC. "

    In this post I committed to relaying the exact experience of ordering a new Ferrari- I'm am not trying to criticize anyone or even the process(which does suck). I am simply relaying, in real time, the experience.

    The pictures definitely do not appear in real time. I got the third photo of our Portofino M two days after the car was loaded on a boat.

    The third photo (of a nearly complete car) usually comes quickly after the second photo. The MyFerrari app provides the highest resolution version of the photos (vs. the website).

    "Just a question, deposit of 10k, and that was it before delivery ? Thx"

    My local dealer only required the $10k initial deposit and nothing else until the car was delivered. I've read of plenty of dealers requiring a second deposit, or paying for the options up front. Different dealers, states, countries seem to have different policies.

    Got that, thx. Yep, my dealer is asking 15% up-front, so I was just wondering if that's the standard procedure, thx again

    I’ve never heard of such a thing , 15 pct of the price of the car. 10k and 20k seem to be the norm at F Tampa. At least that’s all I’ve ever been asked for , then balance right before pick up. Do you have any history with the dealership?

    Yeh, 15% seems a bit high. My dealer requires $25K at time of order and the remaining balance at delivery. I do have a long standing history with my dealer but don't think that influences anything other than the ability to actually secure an allocation.

    3/16/23 - My dealership GM sends me an email saying my car has left the factory and there will a long period of Radio Silence until clears customs in New Jersey.

    I check the App and photo 3# is there.
