Ok All, I know I sound crazy, but I recently brought my Lusso T to the dealer for its annual service and for the Brake Fluid Cap/Software Update Warranty.
    • Upon its return, I parked it in the garage and plugged the magnetic trickle charger into the port under the bumper (note that prior to the service, the charging port/CTEK charger were fully functional).
    • In plugging in the charger, I noticed that the LED's on the charger itself were no longer registering the state of charge.
    • Thinking that the charger had gone bad, I used another charger I had lying around; same result
My question (and suspicion), could the software update have incapacitated the aftermarket charger since it's not Ferrari branded? Has anyone else noticed oddities since their warranty service??

It's not my intent to start a kerfuffle, just wondering if I now need to pony up for a "real" Ferrari trickle charger:/

I can not say any about that software. What I can say is that on my FF the magnetic port failed to work just for no reason, just as you describe. It took two trips to the dealer and 1200 usd to get that fixed.... go figure....

In your photo, the power LED on the CTEK is not lit. If its plugged into the wall in the photo, is a GFI tripped? If not, your CTEK may have died.

If it's just a dummy photo, make sure the contacts on the magnetic port are clean. Sometimes wax or cleaning products can interfere with the connection. Wipe it down with alcohol.

The Ferrari charger isn't any different from the Ctek other than the sticker and the plug. I don't know as I don't have a Lusso, but if it's a separate line under the hood then it's also possible that when they disconnected things during the service they forgot to reconnect it.

Thanks for the thought, but just a bad pic. There is definitely power getting to the charger (I just didn't capture the flashing green power light in the pic). I've cleaned the contacts, but I'll give that another try.

Great point that the dealer may have disconnected the battery during the service. I'll check to see if anything is amiss at the battery.

There is no way for the car to know which charger is plugged to the port. It's all dumb, no smart charging or anything. The magnetic port is directly connected to the battery and no relay needs to be on for it to charge. So if it doesnt work I would suggest that the magnetic port is somewhat disconnected from the battery. A very easy test to do is to test the voltage between the center and outer ring of the magnetic port. it should read the battery voltage. If it does not, try testing continuity for each polarity. I believe the inner one is 12V, the outer one is ground.
