Please let me preface this discussion by stating that I have used the "SEARCH" function on this forum many times and I have found much discussion about this topic, there is little information that is my exact situation. Much of the discussion involved different wheels.

I will be keeping my factory 18" wheels. Since my 575M is due for tires soon. I am looking at installing wheel spacers to give the car a more flush look. I know the Hill Engineering spacers are the way to go.....so what thickness spacers should I use? Does anyone have direct experience with the factory 18" wheels?

Thanks for the reply Terry, I was hoping you had been there and done that. Just to clarify in the photos above you are using 25mm only in rear and no spacers on the front?

Affirmative, just the rears. Fronts look fine to me and still do with the 19" modulars.

Does anyone know where I can find a pair of 25mm slip-on spacers? Recambi only sells Typ2 bolt-on styles. HE sells them but they come from the UK.

Their rear spacers are Type 2, as well. I thought HE made both types of 25 mm spacers, but cannot get into their website right now.

Why do you want slip on spacers with longer bolts? I have had Type 2s on the back of my 575M for 12 or so years.

FWIW... Four months ago I wanted Hill Engineering spacers for my stock wheels on the rear of my 456GT. Their website was not showing the full spacer line up, so I called them in Great Britain and spoke with a very knowledgeable gentlemen. I had done the caliper measuring thing and was in 2 minds between sizes. I went with his recommendation and the spacers arrived in Seattle in 4 days. He also talked about 550 and 575 sizes, he really knew his stuff.
The transformation was huge, highly recommended.

25mm is perfect for the 456. Another happy HE user here.

Something to consider is the shape of the sidewall...my conti's are pretty curvy and so 20mm puts my tire in line with the top of the rear arch. If you have a straighter sidewall that extra 5mm would make the difference. More importantly I could'nt believe the difference it made to the look and stance of my car. Before the recessed wheel was a focus of my eye, now it's just looks correct and instead I'm drawn towards the big side scallop and the rear complex curves of the car and the wheels just disappear.

Does anyone know the torque specs for the Hill Engineering Type 2 spacers? There were no instructions in the package I cannot find anything on their website.

I bet its same as normal bolts. Spacer is mounted to hub so hubs tq should be used as not to go above what it is designed for. Wheel is mounted to spacer with normal bolts so their tq should still be used.

I put 25s on the back and they look really good. Anyone put anything on the front?

Nope, looked fine to me without any front spacers for the last 12 years or so.

Be advised spacers are rougher on wheel/hub bearings. I already replaced one of my rear bearings on 135171.

Stu- Yup, looked at the invoice and it was more like $1800 including $1200 for the bearing alone. Done last year.

    Question;

My friend wants the same wheel spacers as mine for his 550.

25mm Wheel spacers for the rear - Counter sunk with standard bolts

15mm Wheel spacers for the front - Longer bolts.

He has the Barchetta wheels. Therefore will these spacers work? Image Unavailable, Please Login
