Hello everyone, I am trying to find a nice set of 18 inch wheels for my 348. Looking and not much is written or known. The fact is that I don't want magnesium challenge as we all know that so old mag. Wheels are not safe. Found this piece of info on here: Std 348 5x108 67.1 bore Front 7.5j17 et+49 Rear 9j17 et+68 Std F355 5x108 67.1 bore Front 7.5j18 et+32 Rear 10j18 et+77.9 And the specs I fitted.. BBS LM 5x108 67.1 bore Front 8j18 et+35 Rear 10.5j18 et+65 Michelin Pilot Super Sport - 225/40 R18 (92Y) Michelin Pilot Super Sport - 295/35 My questions: *Is there an aftermarket or replica (modern) of challenge Speedlines out there? *I saw on some cars the BBS RM (looks sooo good), but I couldn't find this dimension on their website *There are also some 3 piece like F40 or Testarosa style Is there some alternatives as 17 are too small and 360 are too new. and I want something period correct 18 and not spend 7k Please help. Do you want an actual period-correct wheel or would you be satisfied with one that looks period-correct?
I think some Simmons would look great. They haven’t changed the design since the 90s. I had them on my VW in 2000 https://www.simmonswheels.com.au/wheel-details/18-inch-simmons-om/ Of course, Dan at Augment will make you *anything* you like. https://www.augmentwheels.com/ BC Forged makes tons of possible and inexpensive options https://bcforged-na.com/modular/mhe28/ if you don’t want forign built wheels (I kid) then some good ol’ American made CCWs would be cool https://ccwheel.com/wheels/ccw-classic-three-piece-wheels/
For true period-current options there aren’t a ton ive actually seen on cars *in period*. You have Speedline Mistrals, but I think the centers look a little small for a 348. Wow. I am from Europe, but can import them thank you so much. Now I have some thinking to do , Will let you know and make some pics
There are forged alu Challenge type wheels There was a post some years ago I believe they were made by Cinel Maybe you can also find something in there collection https://www.cinelforgedwheels.com/historic-collection/
BC Forged will be my next acquisition: https://bcforged-na.com/project/alberts-ferrari-348ts-18-le05-2/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
I bought some BC for another project and they were very professional and the wheels came out great. Highly recommended. The only downside is that their low (relative) price makes them a little ubiquitous.
Thank you for the tips. Did send the inquiry. And I had some play with photoshop. I will go with yellow fog lights and golden centres. What do you guys think? (color is a bit strong as it is photoshopped, but just to get the idea.) Will use the BBS correct RS, LM gold anodized) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are you selecting the exact BC forged 2pc in the picture? They do a very nice subtle gold. But yes, gold 10000%.
Does anyone know of a good magnesium option available?? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Looks like they only do custom orders, wish I could see more of their offerings Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Or even TR512 wheels. You would even get an extra 0.5" extra width on the rear wheels compared to f355 wheels.
You need to understand what you’re trading off for that width. On the street (imo) modern 215/255 tires are plenty. Wider tires would be nice on the track, sure, but all that extra mass is gonna slow you down on the street and make slow speed turning a nightmare. I don’t think wheels wider than 8”F and 9.5” rear are necessary. Big wide tires will look cool tho. NGL.
There’s a recent video where Harry Metcalf and Ian Tyrrell talk about how Harry had to add power steering to his Testarossa… or was it his countach… can’t recall,.. because he put sticky tires on it and he couldn’t turn the thing. So he went back to period correct tires and removed the aftermarket powersteeing.
Waiting for them to get cleared of customs. The guys at BC were friendly and responsive. Will post some more pics when I get them home Image Unavailable, Please Login
