Third time fixing this terrible design. New ones are about $600 from the dealer, so worth trying to patch this one back together with some custom 3D printed parts. This design is really, really dumb from a manufacturing point of view and seems destined to fail eventually on 100% of the ashtrays with this design. This is off of a 2000 Ferrari 360, by the way...

The whole thing needs to be glued, but the 3D printed support piece will use the side of the cigarette lighter for support. This, of course, assumes that one doesn't use the cigarette lighter for actually lighting up cigarettes, as the heat might melt the 3D part.

Picture = 1,000 words, so here goes. Send me PM if you want the file. The little piece I made first is the test piece - then I made the full-height one.

Being a Monday morning quarterback, it seems kind of obvious that that metal spring pushing on such a tall feature when starting to close the lid, with such little base material thickness, was a boo-boo, and would rip out of the thin "floor" right where yours did. Although that other piece that you've got glued back in, I guess, says that they underestimated the whole ruggedness that that part needed :). Nice fix.

I imagine they gave the task of designing the ash tray to the Italian intern engineer, and left the important stuff (engine and F1 transmission) to the experienced guys! :)

I mean, if you work at Ferrari, who really wants to design the ash tray?
