Speciale+F8
Yes a 2013 570-4. 458 is definitely the superior driver, in terms of brake feel and seating position. My SL is a UGR stage 3. Fully built with race head so from a power standpoint, not a fair comparison. It even makes the Pista seem slow
a Speciale is something like 95% base 458. but a Pista is only 70% 488.......the Speciale is an aero kit and some software tuning of suspension/tranny/engine.(correct me if im wrong) and the Pista has way more parts engineered for it specifically. in fact, the Pista is the furthest departure from the regular version in Ferrari history. 360-challenge, 430-scud, 458-speciale, and 488-Pista. ....................so im told. not sure what this means except that Ferrari put a lot of time and money into the Pista relative to the other special editions. does not make it better or more memorable, that is all personal preference. just some facts i learned from a Ferrari employee, hope they were accurate.
I think the speciale has some new engine parts. Maybe some else can verify your 95% and 70% claims. Thanks for your reply.
Speciale is more different than you can imagine, much more than aero kit and software tuning. For instance: camshafts with different lobs angle with DLC treatment, pistons, rods, valves, CNC finished heads, cyl liners, more free flow exhaust silencers… the highest compression ratio achieved in a Ferrari NA V8 engine, 14:1 that is insane ratio for a car, looks more a 1L super bike compression ratio than a road car. 9000rpm engine speed limiter.. The above as a brief on the engine; frame-wise: thinner windows, rear lexan instead glass, got rid of all sound isolators, wider rims with bigger tires, full La Ferrari braking system…. List is endless. Even the rivets that hold the flanks and fenders to the chasis are different!!! Not to mention the carbon seats, inner door cards, no glove box, etc. And yes, a beautifully crafted aero kit with active aero front and rear… Yet you think it has 95% standard 458?
no, not my opinion, i said i was told. i did not give my analysis after rigorous testing and a long investigation. and that's why i asked for someone to confirm. and how about the same breakdown on the Pista? is it more than the Speciale? less?
Having owner 2 Italias, both with the different seats, these make a massive difference to the feel of the car. Bumpy road mode on with race seats feels like bumpy road off with standard seats.
Hmmm- never liked the 458 BUT after reading this, regardless of aesthetics, I’m about to start looking at them for sale— I like that it’s the last VS NA - maybe I can change my mind on the looks and then do another insanely stupid move and buy one to compliment my F8 (both of which I can’t afford but do anyway) WAIT! Just checked prices… forget that sh*t lol Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!! How old are you, 14? Do your homework! (on the Speciale... and maybe for your junior high class too)
Sounds like this thread was useful to you too. F8 + speciale is a good combo. I'm sticking with the Italia and gonna wait for the right Pista.
I also think “on paper” similarities or differences don’t tell the whole story I have an F8 and a pista. The pista feels completely different and superior in every respect to my F8, despite fairly similar specifications Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Interesting, please could you expand on this. How do the interior 'improvements' feel compared with the older pista?
And according to what I just saw online.. a Pista is less money than a Speciale? That’s nuts! I agree- I’ll hope to afford a Pista one day to go with my F8- perfect combo (in my dreams) Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I think I am in the minority here, but I would like a 458 Speciale and an F8 (with a Kline or Novitec exhaust) if I correctly understand the poll of only choosing 2 of the above options. I've heard people say the pros of the F8 compared to the Pista are the updated cabin and steering feel, but the cons are the sound. I think the steering feel cannot be updated on the Pista, but the sound can be fixed with the proper aftermarket equipment. That's the reasoning behind my choices. Besides that, both cars look freaking fantastic (I particularly like the looks of LeClerc's Pista), and I am saddened that my favorite iteration of Ferraris, which is the mid-engine V8's, is behind us. Thanks for reading my TED talk.
oh Todd. such a tool. please shush. men are talking anyways (addressing the adults in the room)...............i owned a Speciale. and i just did not love it. after it i had a base 458 spider and that car was much more enjoyable with the top down to me than the speciale in a coupe version.
lol, i know what causes a man to get that disgruntled and throw them into a troll frenzy online. unfortunately i can not mention it here as i would get banned from the site. but Todd, i know, we all know, and its going to be ok fella. hang in there. this will pass.
i have an F8 and Pista as well......my F8 being a spider. "The Pista feels completely different and superior in every respect to my F8" .............this is spot on. so different. i enjoy both of them immensely and appreciate their differences.
You're telling me YOU owned a Speciale and have NO KNOWLEDGE of it at all, that makes me laugh my ..... off, I guess you are a bigger.....than we thought you were. Keeping ones mouth closed and listening is much more successful than opening ones mouth for all to see. Admission of of a mistake is much more genuine than trying to talk ones way out of it.
