Can’t you ask the independents to liaise with SSautotech/Parkes? Given that your local indy will have to uninstall and reinstall the PTU and commission it anyway, I don’t see what their problem is. It’s not like they’re making money on the parts supply. Or are they? If they refuse to use your parts then you need to find better indys.

And this could be a long shot but will your official Ferrari dealership replace the PTU if you supply the exchange unit? My Ferrari dealership was willing to replace a headlamp unit if I could source the spare part cheaper and quicker than they could.

Another Fchatter had his PTU rebuilt twice by GTE before sending it off to SSautotech/Parkes for a final rebuild. So SSautotech/Parkes could probably tell you what’s in a GTE rebuilt PTU if you ask them.

I agree. I will need to call and talk through the process and see if they would agree to broker it with one of those companies. The dealer is also an option just at a higher rate. First things first, I need to see what my warranty company says.

Apparently, there is ‘marriage file” that needs to be installed that syncs the DCT and PTU anytime there is any work performed that not all indi’s have access to. The local ferrari dealer quoted me $5400 for labor which I’m okay with and more importantly they are okay with installing a 3rd party refurbished PTU which is most likely the route I’ll take and hope that whichever company I pick for the PTU doesn’t fail as I would have to pay for labor for each install.

Clear scam by dealer, after rebuild of PTU you need just to install this and put new oil inside. You want to pay 5400$ for air? SSAutotech confirmed now this. What the heck with you guys, even Programming software not cost 5400$, this is not secret formula1 software, 5400$ costs brand new gaming computer, 5400$ costs lifetime subscribe to all Adobe programs and autodesk and autocad. 5400$ for free 50mb ECU software? Wake up

This is invoice for 5400$ (2000 AED) , this include all job with replacing PTU, new oils to DCT (+work) , new heat exchanger, calibrations. How you can see here is no need Programming. So it's just confirm that official dealer will try to scam you anytime they want.

What difference/improvement do you think Ferrari made to the PTU between 2011/20016 if any.

Furlonger told me that there was no change apart from the colour of the seals which may have been beefed up or from different suppliers.

Looking at the photos of Emirateshill575’s PTU (out of a 2017 Lusso) backs up Furlonger’s assertion that there are no physical differences.

They did, however, improve the cooling of the PTU which is why the Lusso can send 20% more torque to the front axle than the FF and up to 90% of it to the outside wheel.
