That’s just leather. Some folks (having learned the hard way) would be equally/more concerned with having a reliable knowledgeable shop recommission the cooling system, fried wiring, degrading rubber in the tank and throughout, da bombs, a lot of standard random stuff like you can read ALL about here. :) It is a beautiful car. The paint looks great. The rear side window trim looks great and that cannot be replaced or fixed. You need to love a 456 to run one but they are worth it a thousand times over !

I think a $70k bid accounting for $20k in repairs to get it in near perfect condition might be fair. If it goes for well more and it might i dont think. Its worth my money

There have been a nice grouping of cars that needed substantial financial love like Mirek noted that had outright obscene levels of cash spent to get them “right”. I hope whoever buys this has the pockets and patience and reports in on the true/actual costs.

It’s always tough to tell without a PPI from the shop you want to do the work.

You can always save yourself a ton of cash, just don’t drive it a lot.

Totally agree about the smooth idle. I thought it was just me that noticed or felt that cause mine must be rough, although I have deleted my cats so tough to compare based on sound effects n a video.

by 2003 had they fixed the valve guide material issue is that still an anticipated repair item for this MY?

I don’t recall or have a note on if the BaT handle JJW007 corresponds to one of us….but the guy that bought the TdF 456 today has absolutely NOT been screwing around with his acquisitions. God bless that rascal.

That guy has really laid out some money for quite a lot of cars...

Mohr mentioned having worked with him before in their Congrats post. Wonder if he is a broker or just has HODL money

that kind of HODL money really must remove any stress whatsoever (one would hope).

it’s a nice place to live I’m sure!

ps based off his “man cave” comment on the Rolls sign…I would love for him to be on here and then have a “tour the man cave night”!

It’s harder when weirdos have multiple Bat accounts ;-)

I’m sure that doesn’t happen just like shill bidding doesn’t either….

It’s neat how many new or revived 456 threads there have been recently.

Guys. So received the 456 last week and it’s a very beautiful machine. There’s a few paint issues that we will correct. The biggest irritators which were not disclosed to me are the auto forward/back function when you pull the seat back forward by the lever. And also as you’re driving, the drivers window drops may be a mm or 2. Now I’ve read exhaustive posts on F chat and beyond about fixing the seats and the windows. My question is how much will it cost roughly? And about how long will it take?
I know these are kind of difficult questions to pin down, but I’m going to assume that the seats are the potentiometers, since the rest of the seat functions work well. And I’m going to assume the windows are the regulators, but they can be adjusted or modified as opposed to replaced.
I’m certainly willing to do some, if not all of the work myself, but am I getting in over my head…
Cheers to F chat and belated happy Mother’s Day and early Happy memorial day and thank you in advance.

    First of all CONGRATULATIONS !

Second, I have the same seat issue. I had several places look at it and basically decline it due to the anticipated cost of the parts and labor. When I got mine the seat would not go back or forward at all, much less automatically. That got fixed but the automated movement is still not there. Or the seat memory function.I live with it.

Not sure on why the window is dropping but I wish you luck in solving that. It must be annoying.

A nice round figure is $2,000 per trip for such screwy things….depending on what is found.
Mine is going back in tomorrow :( electrical concern.

Hello everyone and happy memorial day. Few updates on my 456. She’s a thing of beauty and overall runs exceptionally well. May be running a little rich since the other day, I started it in my garage, and although the garage door was opened, the exhaust fumes almost made my eyes water. It could’ve been that there was no circulation in the garage but I do want to clean out the injectors. So here’s a couple questions: is it OK or does anyone recommend running injector cleaner through the fuel system? Or does anyone have any experience with or does anyone recommend using seafoam or some other additive in the fuel tank?
Different question/problem: I think there is a parasitic draw, and I would like to try to figure that out. I know how to check for the parasitic draw but to do so I’m going to shut the battery off/disconnect the battery. When I reconnect the battery is it mandatory to do an ECU reset?
PS I realize there may be a better place for these questions, but I thought I would start in this post since this is the only post I’ve really contributed to since buying before 56.
    Cheers

Boy this would be settling in every way for me but seeing it’s put on a bunch of miles in the last 3 years and looks to have gone through a thorough sorting I might have to think about it. “No black interior” has been the only hard and fast rule for me; I’d maybe have settled for it on a dark red car but certainly not Grigio titanio. I’ll have to sleep on this one.
