^ this is exactly the type of car that drags down daytona pricing. thorough evaluation required on this one.

 

How do you figure ?
I don’t see it being anything different from most of the average/driver examples out there.
Besides, to purchase any used car, including Daytonas, regardless of sales presentation, without a “thorough evaluation” can be considered foolish.

RHD Daytonas are a hard sale at the moment, even if they are rarer. And collectingcars is not famous for achiving top prices. Most of the time, it´s quite the opposite.

 

How bad was it ? Also didn’t quite look like a factory Grigio Scuro to me.

 

Here are the 6 Daytona coupes up for auction in Monterey this year. I'd be curious how those that know more than I do think they stack up (which is to say everyone). Two of them are part of the Lost and Found collection and may need more than a little TLC. There is also a real spider and a cut coupe on offer.

I'd say that's a fairly accurate assessment.

To answer my own question it turns out that Vida is a typo and the original colour was Viola…!

Bought for 638 000€ in February, 98 000€ spent on a new paint, and expected to sell for 100K more.
It seems a bit short for me to have a well made new paint in 6 months, but let’s see what she brings under the hammer !

The dates are wrong in writeup. 15229 was imported along with my dad's 16337 as a pair by Elvidio Grande in 1976. Both cars were impounded by customs in Cleveland for close to a year. Upon release, my dad had his choice of the pair so he took 16337 due to its later serial number and Dr Saddi took 15229. I remember 15229 sitting dead in our garage needing a push start, so we dragged it up the hill on our driveway with a Wheel Horse tractor and push started it. Ah the 1970s....

 

I remember that Dr. Saddi had the car painted red--the 400SA too?

 

I was looking at the pictures of this car for quite some time this week! Too bad I didn’t win at Euromillion, it would have matched our 308 with this beautiful Blu Dino Met !

 

That’s what I thought, famous owners don’t do everything, maybe some work was required to put it to pristine condition.
