Great stuff Bill! Progress with the other parts is coming on well, though the "almost" parts are becoming expensive learning experiences! All part of the fun though. :)

My conversion parts collection has grown the past few days. First I got a three-pedal set from Hill Engineering in the UK. With the wider gas pedal they describe this set as the heel-and-toe spec. Next I received a box from @brogenville. Enclosed was a complete gated six shifter assembly. The turret is CNC-machined from a block of aluminum. I am guessing Robin makes the bottom cover with a 3D printer. The box also included a CNC-machined clutch pedal, a pre-owned clutch master cylinder, and a few bits and pieces Robin had lying around. Check the attached photos.

The final image is a screenshot of a March 22 status update from Eurospares, regarding a $3,333 order I placed with them on March 13. I am using all OEM parts to the greatest extent possible, which means crazy prices like £1,026.79 for the rear shifter rod and £908.27 for the front shifter rod.

Glad the parts arrived safely Bill.

The "boot" for the turret was meant to be printed silicone, but the supplier made one and decided to increase their price by x11.:D What yu have there then is glass filled nylon - very good temperature resistance and will do everything thats needed to keep dust etc out.

A box of conversion parts from Eurospares arrived today. Finally! This package shipped on March 30 and landed in Los Angeles on April 3. U.S. Customs & Border Patrol then sequestered it on the ground that any shipment of more than $2,500 declared value requires a CBP Form 5106. This form states contact information and an ID number for the importer, whether it be Social Security, Taxpayer ID, or a CBP ID number. Pro Tip: If you're importing parts in excess of $2,500 into the US -- which is not hard to do, thanks to the well-known Ferrari Tax -- make sure you have furnished the Form 5106 to your vendor and that the vendor includes this form in its documentation. In my case neither the vendor nor the courier (FedEx) thought of this issue in advance, causing a three-week delay in delivery.

The first photo below shows the two big ticket items: the front and rear shifter rods. The total for both was £1,935, or $2,418.33. In a world where you can buy a really powerful desktop computer plus monitor, or a 77" OLED TV, for this kind of money, these are startling figures for a couple pieces of steel rod stock with connecting hardware welded to the ends. But I ultimately want to be able to claim OEM Ferrari parts for this conversion, so this is the price. (It is also the case that all these parts are much cheaper at Eurospares UK than at any US parts house.)

The second photo shows the other conversion parts in this shipment, mostly nuts, bolts and washers. The package also included one of the two 599 air cleaner boxes, and both elbow ducts (not pictured), for the conversion to 599 mass airflow sensors. The total for everything was £3,085.13, or $3,857.38. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Pm me if you need software support on this project. You don't need to buy new ECUs, they can be converted and still pass emissions and smog.

I appreciate the offer. I will definitely be needing some ECU help. In addition to the gated six conversion I am also doing the 599 MAF swap. Check the photo below for the six major parts I have collected in the past couple weeks, including a right-hand airbox and both elbows that were included in this week's Eurospares shipment.

Additionally I want to upgrade to some six-into-one headers. I found this clip on Youtube, of a 612 with a "Brilliant" brand exhaust. Have a listen:

    .

This is the sound I want to get; that high-pitched "Formula 1" sound. Do you -- or anyone -- have any suggestions? I am not sure if the Brilliant brand is a viable option. My Youtube sound clip is six years old. Brilliant has a website -- http://www.brilliant-ex.com/en/info/ -- but I have not yet tried to contact them through that portal. The unknown is whether Brilliant can make a system for a 612 without having the car in its shop. There's a three year old video on the Youtube channel of a creator with the handle Effspot, that suggests all Brilliant systems are a one-off custom job:

    .

Effspot also states that he paid $12,000 for the system Brilliant made for his Mercedes S600, which is a lot of money for an exhaust.

In any event, ultimately I will need ECU customization to accommodate all three mods: the gated six conversion, the 599 MAFs, and a six-into-one exhaust system. So like I said, I will definitely need some help.

While probably true, you guys make me laugh pretty often. The subtlety and dry nature of the comment is hysterical. :)

On topic, I am still very tempted by Fabio's exhaust and Trev's tune to go with it. Alas I am still cleaning up a bunch of stuff since I retired, the 599 needs to go to the shop, and my wife has had a lot of dental bills lately so a new exhaust will wait a little while longer. <breathing deeply & resigning myself to wait a while longer> :)

I'm a bit sad, that i had the bad luck with my 599 engine and hadn't the chance to enjoy the headers longer.

It was such a good sound after installing the small special silencers in addition to the headers.

    LOL!

Fabio was telling me that he needed to hire a new welder as the current guy is only working part time.

On Monday I received the final piece of my three-pedal conversion jigsaw puzzle, the actuator control cover. This part is NLA from Ferrari; I sourced mine from @brogenville. Here are some photos:

Here are some Ferrari parts diagrams, showing this part's location in a gated six car and in an F1 car:

Here is a photo of the major bits I'll be installing in my 612. They include the parts for the gated six conversion, an HGT rear sway bar, and 599 air boxes, MAFs, and intake elbows.

    Image Unavailable, Please Login

I will also install a set of Fiammenghi 6-into-one headers and valved mufflers. Here are some photos of a Fiammenghi system for the 612, with AIR tubes but without cats. I will be running both AIR and cats.

Here is a work in progress photo that Fabio sent me of my system's flanges and AIR tubes:

Another part of this project is an "aero" kit I got direct from a Chinese carbon fiber fabricator who trades on Alibaba. I am pretty sure I will install the front lip spoiler and the rear diffuser, but not the trunk lid wing. My reservations have to do with the fact that the rear diffuser install will be irreversible; I'll have to cut up the rear bumper to make it fit.
