I'm game -- does anyone have a recommendation for an OBD2 scanner that can read what the sensors are saying? I have a basic code-clearing doohickey, but not sure what works on a 355. I have a Durametric for my 993 that shows everything the ECU is seeing, but it's Porsche-only. Would be great to get one of those cheapo bluetooth ones with the phone app. I searched and didn't see any recommendations.

    4 would be 155.00°F
    ...
    7 would be 172.50°F o_O
    '''
    10 would be 190.00°F

    If 10 = 190 and 4 = 155, then 7 is 1/2 way between.

    If it's linear, 7 = 177.5.

    I don't know about Goth's math.

Then there is the Euro gauge.

Anyway, this looks pretty normal to me.

I wonder if it will work with the Euro 3 pin diagnostic plug with an adaptor. I may have to wire up my car like USA cars.

Is there a Ferrari selection on the OBDLink Mx app, or do you select BMW or something else?

Ahh euro car. Dunno bout makimg that work.
I just use the raw data. I use a few different apps some do things better than others.

I use to monitor fuel trim, o2 data etc..

Off topic, but it doesn't look easy. I would have to tap into wires, add pins to plugs, etc.

Definitely not plug-n-play. The USA OBD2 port uses a blue wire on one of the ECU plugs (which is unused on Euro cars).

When this topic was originally batted around, my gauge was reading below the 177 level just like in this photo. Changing the thermostat has made it stay above that mark ever since, for what it’s worth.

I thought I was the only one and blamed it on bad healing of broken ribs from the past because who t.h. breaks his rib while working on his engine? But exactly what you describe happened to me lately when I was leaning into the engine bay. A light snap and months of pain and discomfort. So indeed watch your ribs.

I have an ELM Bluetooth with an adaptor cable to the Euro 3 pin plug and it works. My adaptor cable needs an external 12V .

Interesting. Thanks. I though data would be limited without the additional blue wire found on USA cars.

I wonder if I can afford this...

Exactly what happened. I think I was leaning over the pointed top of the side sail. Hurt for months

I have a bluetooth scanner arriving tomorrow and am going to start by comparing temps on the gauge to what the ECU is saying. Assuming the gauge is accurate I'm going to replace the thermostat and do some while-you're-in-there's. Have no idea how I'm going to do this without breaking bones or needing lower back surgery. I might try laying a large firm cushion across the top of the engine and laying on it. I assume the plenums would support me if the load was distributed? No idea how I can do this job by standing next to the car and leaning over, I really can't reach.

That was hooking it back up after it was out! Lot more work to get it all the way out from there, believe me.

Now I understand why most of the time this is done at the Major Service time.

But back 25 years ago mine was done at the Major Service but the New Thermostat was stuck Open.

Only figured it out on drive home which was 5 hours away from the Ferrari shop I use.

So had to have it replaced again with engine in the car at a local shop.

    Lesson learned....

I would ask for the Thermostat to be tested in the future before its installed.
