Could you mod a FF to just be rear wheel drive and avoid the PTU failure altogether?
The question has been asked many times before but apart from a somewhat dubious influencer on youtube, nobody ever claims to have done it. And now that a permanent fix for the PTU is available for c.$10,000, the more pertinent question is; why would you bother modding the car rather than fixing it?
I just had my Lusso's PTU prophylactically addressed by Micah at www.hollywoodmechanic.com No affiliation, but he was very professional and efficient. He has also come up with a better solution for the hydraulic line failure others have implicated in the PTU failures (see below).

I am not sure what the other two charge, but if I remember correctly, his price was around $9k. I brought the car to his shop for the work in Los Angeles, which he correctly estimated would take 3 days.
Contact him through www.hollywoodmechanic.com I'm sure he will be able to provide some useful information. No affiliation, just a satisfied customer
