One minor complaint about Patek. I’m wearing my green 5168. I have a green 5905. Then you have the green 5294 posted above. None of the greens look the same. I wish there was more continuity in the colors. They are all over the place. Like Rolex green is Rolex green. Can pick out a mile away.

I was at the Salons in Geneva today and the watches look so much better in the 5th floor daylight instead of artificial light at W&W!!
5924 green was ugly there and it appears beautiful in reality, a bit darker than 5168G and not matt, but slightly polished.

I prefer it to the blue one, which has a strong sunburst effect.

    Curious-
Are you a big and hold kind of person. Or do you trade/sell?

as I’m adding to my collection, I have pieces that I’m not wearing as much. Debating to sell some but not sure I can emotionally let go. They will probably sit in the safe and maybe that’s ok?

What do you guys do? Keep everything? Or sell as new pieces come in?

This is the point you are now a collector, having the luxury of being able to acquire, hold or let go of timepieces as you please. I do both, some pieces I'll keep because the watch represents more than just the watch, others I've bought, enjoyed and ready to move on from. I know it may not be the case for some here, but for most, we've done the trade-in to get the (more) higher-end watch(es). It's always about trying to find the balance of keeping yourself happy/satisfied with what's in the collection versus wanting something new as your taste/budget evolves. I guess the first question to ask is how many pieces is enough? Then which pieces are the foundation of the collection? Lets say 20 pieces is the max, of that, 10 are foundation pieces, now you can rotate among the other 10 to satisfy the itch for a new piece; trade/sell for another foundation piece that comes along; buy another piece that catches your eye; rinse/repeat until all 20 are "foundation pieces".

I tend to keep everything unless a friend wants something that I’m willing to let go. I have not worn most of them for years and don’t really know where to sell them either.

I think watches are like cars, more than a few and you can’t enjoy them. Actually beyond a certain point they actually add stress (and cost) to your life.

Have one or two nice everyday cars and at most two or three special ones.

With watches pick your top five and sell the rest. Only buy a new one if you like it more than a watch in your current 5.

    That’s my 2 cents.

there hasn'tbeen a patek or a ferrari that i've liked enough to add in years, and I'm certainly happy i didn't sell any of the old stuff for the new stuff as id have major buyer's remorse. My stuff is tough to replace given the quality of what i have, so that matters to me also.

    Messed up...

"But meanwhile, Shreve — which in 1887 became the second U.S. jeweler in the U.S. to represent Patek Philippe, according to the company — knew as early as November 2021 when it sold him the women's watch that it was losing its status as a Patek Philippe dealer and would not be able to sell him the 5980/1R-001, the lawsuit claimed.

Shreve did not tell its sales associates, or Rezaei, that it would stop being a dealer for the Swiss brand, the lawsuit alleged. Instead, Shreve strung him along "to continue to reap additional sales revenue" and Rezaei was "deprived of the watch that he was promised," the lawsuit claimed."
