Anyone have a lead on the standard motor PR298’s? I can’t find them anywhere. Or a quality equivalent? Thanks
Have you tried Summit Racing? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/smp-pr298 Did you see this thread? https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/aftermarket-fuel-pressure-regulator-for-348.458637/
Yea, thanks, I’ve been through all the FPR threads I called they don’t have it in stock and don’t know when they’ll get any.
I had to change out the thermostat so was going to replace these “while I was in there”. The car sat for 20 plus years just a matter of time before they go bad.
Is the engine in the car? Thats a horrible job to do if it is, your back will let you know!! I observe people replacing all sorts of things "before they go bad" on this forum that may not need replacing or are about to go bad... However 20 years is a long time, but the FPR's would only be one of many many things to look at replacing if you're worried about those... I would be looking at the fuel pumps and fuel pump cradles, fuel lines, IACV's, 02 sensors, injector servicing, not to mention if its been sitting that long I'd be pulling the engine out and doing the full major service as a starting point...
It had a major service last summer before I bought it. I had to replace the ones in my 89 Mondial t coupe a couple months ago so I figured it’s about time on this one as well. And yes……my lower back was killing me this morning.
Oh right, good the major is out of the way... There is also a union in the valley which corrodes badly, Part # 106241, its worth checking that whilst you're in there. It feeds the pipe which goes to the coolant header tank. Yep, not great on the back!!
I actually have 2, Brand new in the box Standard Motor Products. I bought 2 extra when I replaced mine about a year and a half ago. I'll PM you.
I’ve spent weeks searching the entire internet for these parts too. Vivid racing and summit racing say they have them but when you place an order all they do is give you an estimated build timeline from the manufacturer ( standard). I placed an order on April 5th and the ship date just keeps getting longer - latest estimate is 14th June but I have no confidence in that. Doesn’t seem to be any of these units in stock anywhere aside from Ferrari themselves who want north if £1000!
Can anyone that has removed the electrical connector from the air idle valve give me some advice on how to do this? It seems covered in a rubber protector and I don’t want to force it and cause damage. Is there a technique to getting the connector off safely?
Thanks so much for posting these great pics! Really helpful. I was getting paranoid about causing more damage than I was repairing if I got this simple first step wrong. Thanks again
The good news is if you absolutely had to retrofit something aftermarket it's probably not that big of a deal. Unlike the 355 that has the regulator fitted into the fuel rail with little options for a plan B that isn't a full on custom fabrication.
Hey Polo - any chance you may still have a spare FPR that you’d be willing to sell? The one I need is the FPR298 (3.8 bar version) Tx
Rockauto is currently showing inventory of the PR298. Run, don't walk! 5% off code: 251390403211605785
Thanks for the tip-off, I just ordered 2 and am keeping everything crossed that they really are in stock - both Summit and Vivid never did get stock after 6 months of waiting……
