Yesterday I went to the Concours on Saville Row in London. This was the second year of this event, arranged by the publishers of Magneto magazine, with free entry and good weather.

I am posting in this section because I think it the most appropriate but I hope you will forgive me for including a few pictures that I hope will be of interest but don't otherwise come under the remit of this section.

Let's start with the 500 Mondial.

This is V16 BRM. Three Mark I V16s were originally made. This is a "continuation" built from the original drawings by Hall & Hall on behalf of the Owen family (Rubery Owen bought BRM from the original trustees). Two members of the Owen family were on the stage in the afternoon to discuss the car. The only original Mk I V16 being in the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and no longer run at serious pace. Note the angle at which the engine is installed.

As last year thanks, I think, to his association with Chopard, one of the sponsors of the event, Jacky Ickx was present and in conversation with Simon Taylor on the stage. Always interesting, whilst never seeming to quite answer the question asked! And, ever the professional, with his own pen to hand to sign autographs after.

I had seen this car in the paddock at Brands Hatch a few days before and had no idea what it was. I had to do an Internet search to find out. If you know (without having to look it up) please post below.

Saville Row. I should perhaps explain, for those that aren't aware, the Saville Row has long been the home of London's bespoke tailors and associated businesses. It is the place to go if you want a suit made to measure (and can afford to do so!). The motoring exhibits were displayed in association with the various businesses in the street.

I do think those Triumphs are gorgeous little cars though underneath probably very antiquated compared to a contemporary Alfa Giulietta Sprint.
On reflection I will take the powder blue 275.
Does anybody know the paint name/code.
Was it, as Marcel would say, "born that way"?

Azzurro La Plata, yes, original to this car, although not the original paint, one of two 4 cams originally painted this shade.

@jtremlett: Thanks so much for posting these images Jonathan. A pity that they couldn't fire-up the BRM V16, it would be the finest sound heard on Saville Row since Get Back.

    Yes you're quite right!

They did say they weren't allowed to fire it up but it will be at Prescott Hillclimb tomorrow as part of the Prescott Historique event, although maybe a bit far to travel at short notice.

I saw it take its maiden win…which was also its maiden start…at Zolder. Andretti was at the peak of his powers and the car suited him wonderfully.

No, my apologies. The dial is from the blue Alfa. I wasn't intending to imply, by the positioning, that the two pictures were of the same car.
