They are only talking about it being enacted during the development of the new railway station. Probably not a bad idea....if it speeds up the build time. Unfortunately, I doubt ANYTHING would speed up government works.

You’ve got to be nuts to drive into the CBD anyway- friend of mine lives in one of the lanes and getting the 308 in and out of her garage is a feat...

19th century cities just can’t handle the number of cars these days - hell, people complain about congestion in Coolum these days!

 

I must say ,I have ALWAYS enjoyed driving my cars down Collins st,while the little people worked.

 

No it’s worse because apart from the major cities, we have no decent public transport and extremely high rates of car usage. It is absolutely nuts that the average household has 2 cars - 1 driven to work and parked all day, and the other doing the school run...
Decades ago, my then BIL was building his first house and insisted it needed a fully enclosed garage to park his precious brand new BMW... the irony was that each day the bimmer was driven down to Ferny Grove railway station and parked in the sun all day while he was at work! I guess the garage (which was a good chunk of the whole house) saved it from moon burn.
