I see. I wonder if the ban is permanent. He’s a new member and may not understand posting procedures. I did the same thing once because I didn’t understand how to use the quote function. A permanent ban would be overly harsh.

Being friends with one of the Australian moderators and knowing a few basic guideline procedures I'm pretty sure it will only be a temporary ban for a week or so just as a warning for undesirable behaviour.

I hereby give anyone the permission to 'steal' my postings and claim them as their own. I couldn't care less. This is not a law firm, it's all for fun, isn't it?

I agree, it's just a forum not a business but some take violations more seriously.

Interestingly, a review appears in Magneto No18 of the Girardo 550 book.

Sorry, but for me this is not something I would call a book review. With a great deal of good will I can find 1 and a half sentence about the book itself. Not helpful at all.

Well, as the book hasn't been finished yet, how could there be a review? As we learned, many important facts were missing until recently (although stated otherwise by the makers of the book), which caused a rework of the book.

It wasn't just a duplicated post or failure to correctly use the quote function, this new user failed 3 out of 4 "integrity" tests (don't bother to ask what they are). I would also note that duplicating someone else's post most frequently occurs because a scammer is looking for authentic content to sound believable. The report on this user merely triggered a deeper dive into the behavior and profile of the user.

Well, there has to be new information since that is listed as the cause of all delays. If not, I will be even more disappointed than I am already (by the price :()

I am reliably informed that the reason for delay was actually that one of the main players wanted some changes late in the day.

Hi Mark, I agree with the sentiments but as an author I worry that there would not be enough interest (i.e. buyers) to justify the cost.

Some ten years or so back I proposed to David that I write a biography based on interviews with him. His wife, Liz, said "No. I'm going to do it." I knew it would never get written. Shame.

Many people completely underestimate what it takes to write a book, any book!

I see your point Nathan but if you look at the Porter Press Ferrari 250 GTE book as an example, that book sold out all 750 copies within a relatively short period of time on a model that in my opinion is of equal interest as the 308 GT4, 365 GT4 2+2 thru 412 series and NART Spider as examples.

I assume Porter Press made money on that book so I think there is scope for similar books on similar less well known models to be produced.

Just my opinion as a book collector- unfortunately not as an author however.

    May I add my support for a book on 308 GT4, 365 GT4 2+2 / 412 series and NART Spider?
I agree that the potential market for these books is not as large as for a book on the 250 GTO.
BUT....I know that there are many book lovers out there that collect books on Ferrari and are quite willing to pay for a book on a model that is not yet covered in their library while hesitating for buying the umpteenth 250 GTO book.
If Matthias Bartz is really considering writing a sequel book on the 308 GT4 Dino, he can already note down my order.

They still have copies for sale at £400.00. Hortons at £275.00.

Artioli Editore has published details now about the new Berlinetta Boxer book including some preview pages:

    https://www.artioli.it/shop/berlinetta-boxer-the-legend/?lang=en

Looks like a fine photo book with surely great pictures, but the price certainly is over the top ...

And unfortunately, they don’t give any details about the number of copies, although they state it’s a limited edition.

I should clarify. Porter Press "sold out" of 250 GTE books at their regular price and have held back a small number to sell through their vintage section and now charge 400 GBP as opposed to their initial selling price of I think around 90 GBP for the same book.

Hortons increased their price too and as a result some copies are still left. If all the remaining GTE books were reduced back to their initial RRP from both sellers they would certainly all be sold out.

I don't think the price of Euro 185 is over the top.
People should realise that since the year 2020 (Covid years) the price for blank paper alone has tripled if not quadrupled.
And I haven't mentioned production cost yet.
Most people have no idea what it costs to actually manufacture a book. And I am not even speaking about the writing and potential research.

From what I just saw from their website nothing too revolutionary there at all.

Some lovely high quality photos of what I am assuming are period correct coloured cars and a bit of a back story. I think if I owned a BB I might consider it but just as an addition to previously published works I already own, I think it's a no from me.

I'll reserve full judgement for when I get hold of the book, but I agree Sven its solid money for a new author I've never heard of, Daniele Buzzonetti, on a book that on initial viewing and description adds nothing much to the BB story.

(oh and speaking of cost, they have already marked the book down by 10 Euro before it's even released. Not a great sign) :)
