I truly think C8 stingray prices are about to pop. There is such a long list on AutoTrader. @JV's89 post above contributes to my feel on this as the red C8 with Z51 package, 2LT, is advertised at $89k. Whereas a bunch of these 1-3 year old used ones are selling at $94-105k are sitting around. In fact it has made me a little concerned about the risk of major depreciation in the near future when buying new. Not saying cars don't depreciate, just that I think it will depreciate quicker than some of its competitors.

I think we're going to see a "correction", but not a "major drop off"
There are still a LOT of people waiting for close to a year for a Stingray (and years for a Z06).

I had a C8 pass me the other day when I was running, it has a rattle to it like 911's do. In my opinion nice cars shouldn't have an engine rattle.

They are pumping out over 40K of them a year now. That cannot stand forever. At some point Chevy will cut back or start incentivizing. Their only hope is foreign sales to pick up the slack. If they can sell 10-15K cars outside the USA they can get by but I don't think the US market can absorb 150K C8's running around without a price decrease.

    But I still like mine.

I bought mine to drive it and it’s the closest I can get to a 458 as a DD. I take the 458 to events and rally’s and I use the C8 for almost everything else and I love it. I really didn’t buy this with resale in mind, but obviously I’d like the value to stay strong.

It's official, I'm a C8 guy, and I completely understand why it gets a lot of love. What an amazing car even without the value proposition. This is only my first full day with it, and I'm impressed. I can see why some choose this as a daily driver. Right now I'm on the fence about the Z06 due to size, but I'm not sure I need what I'd miss by not having it. This one is fun on the street, and it's nearly identical in size to my F430, just 3 inches longer.

Anyway, picked her up last night.

Thanks! It's the Ceramic Matrix Gray. I love it because it looks different depending on light; all the benefits of white, but with some complexity. I had a bunch of people ask me about the color this morning at the local car meet; apparently pretty rare to see in person.

Each of which will be described a "1 of 1" at car shows in a dozen years or so.

I hope they sell a bazillion of them. I'm a patient catfish, waiting for the $$$ to come down to comfort levels on the used market for me.

Just sold my C8 yesterday. It was truly an amazing car that punched well above its weight. 22,000 miles in three years and it still sold for very near sticker. Nothing to complain about. Only sold it because I have some from Maranello on the way and I needed to make room for it in the garage.

Theres one down the road from me. Works great in Floirda which has lots of natural greens and many vivid colors all over the place. Prob way way too much in the more northern climes.

A gold rolls royce does not work in London, but does in Kuwait, and a black rolls with red interior is great in London, elss so in Kuwait.

The problem for me with vivid colors is they attract attention, including the law. No reason to wave red flags toa bull. Would be nice if it were different.

The also don't have to produce 40k per year. With the z06, Zr1 and Erey thy can rpb make 30k per year and make more $. But yeah if history is a guide, last two years of production will see special type m,ix and mash variants to keep the sales going and discounts under control.
Nothing to stop them making say a grand sport, zr1 body with stingray power etc.

Certainly by the time the c9 comes out and the c8 is the "old" shape with 150k out there they will drop like a stone, unless the c9 is a hybrid/electric only.

One of the nice things about this car is at least where I live there are enough about that while ti looks and sounds great, yore not snapping necks as you drive by.
I think that's part of the appeal of the 911, you can go about your business without attracting too much attention.

LOL. More European whining about a Trunk. I'm sorry Euros -- we actually drive our Corvettes and expect to use them.

I agree with him, it is like two cars welded together, c5 was the same. With a frunk does it really need such a big ass as well.?
We're the land of obsession with booty and big titted women.
Kinda like the ferrari testarossa of vettes then, Stylistically a bit disjointed, big ass, but it works and does it all well.

He loved the dynamics, and ultimately thats the part that counts.

Most reviews of all cars imo miss one critical piece. The view out from behind the wheel, and here the vette is great, regardless of the ass, whereas most cars sitting behind the wheel subjectively are a little meh.

Would love to see a chris harris review of the z06.

When I bought my 458, I never expected to drive it daily. No trunk? No problem. The front was enough for a small airline bag if I needed it.

When I bought the C8, I FULLY expected to drive it daily -- and I do. If it had no trunk I probably wouldn't have bought it. I get groceries with it, go shopping with it, taken it on long trips, etc. I don't golf but if I did, I would put them back there as well.

Chevy knows its buyers which is why they are cranking out 40,000 of them a year now. For a 2 seat sports car in today's endless sea of SUV's, that's pretty amazing.

Guns .... lots of guns ....

Seriously I see C8s at my large gun club and a local indoor range so the storage space is value added.

Hadn't thought fop this, but you make a great point.
Im more of the truck to the range type of guy, but then I like long guns too, is that what the rear trunk on the vette is for?.
Never played Golf, so I think tearing up some woods and then dumping fertilizer and pesticide to make a green is a tragedy, and making a car heavy with a big ass for golf clubs a pity.. Bit then Golf courses sell, as do vettes mostly cause they look cool and are useable, seldom do we see one driven in anger or by someone under age 60, so its a good thing they have the amenities to go with the performance. ASt this point they really are an Americana take on the s pace where a porsche 911 sits, with some exotic thrown in for good measure.

If you want to see one driven in anger, come to my neck of the woods. I’ve been having a blast. I’ll also say that I’ve noticed a younger skew since this mid-engine came out.

Having said that, I have noticed that this car does not urge you to go all out like the Ferrari does. The low end grunt encourages you off the line, then levels out. In this car when I stretch it out I really don’t feel the urgency to go past 130. In the F430 the fun didn’t start until the second half of the rpm, so high speeds are encouraged. I’d hit 145 mph, no problem.

Georgetown area, so plenty of back roads and 85mph toll in the country. Are you in the area?

My next project kicks off in Kentucky soon. Can’t wait to get it out there. Plenty of beautiful backroads, and top down weather until November.
