I have had endless problems with the battery in my Porto. It has been changed thrice  in three years but the last one seems to be working well. The dealer has just told me that Ferrari has just introduced a Long Life battery for the Portofino.
I am a bit hesitant to get it changed as I will be away from home (and hence the dealer) with the car for the next three months, so if anything goes wrong I will be in real trouble. But I do like the idea of having a "long life" battery rather than being paranoid about the battery the whole time, as I was last year.
Does anyone know anything about this "new" Ferrari long life battery? Would be grateful for any info as to what it is and whether it is worth installing it.
Unfortunately i have to take a decision by tomorrow, so would be really grateful for a quick reply

According to my dealer (Ferrari Silicon Valley): The replacement battery dealers carry is not the Fiamm that comes in the car but one from Odessey that says Long Life on the side. My dealer now uses an AGM from Interstate for $539.

Thank you for your reply. Good to be able to rely on far flung friends to investigate for (and with) you.
Ultimately I decided not to take the Odessey battery. The dealer said my battery was in good shape and that the Odessey needed a special attachment to make it compatible with the HELE system on the Porto. He said it had just been certified for the Portofino whereas the dealer in France told me two years ago :)rolleyes:) to put it in anyhow.
Who does one believe ;) ?

The original Fiamm in Portofino is fine after four years. I ascribe this to: 1) Using the factory tender. 2) Not stressing the battery by using it to operate the top. 3) Not stressing the battery with the stop/start system (I had mine disabled by an independent company).

I have a Braille lithium battery on order ($1900).

I ALWAYS use the tender. Am paranoid about it but cannot plug it in at hotels, of course.

But not using the top seems besides the point. That is why I bought it instead of a Roma.

And yes, every time I start the car I put off the stop/start system.
Never had these problems with my previous car, a 911. :p

I didn't say don't use the top;I said don't use the battery to operate the top. The Owner's Manual recommends having the engine running (page 148).
