    If you don't polish before then you'll have to when it comes off which happens sooner than you realize as I posted. Either way matte and PPF are not compatible after the first go round. My assumption is folks sell it off for the next guy to deal with. My film guy always polishes cars after PPF removal to get the glue off before re-apply. How do you do that with matte paint without seeing it on the finish?

    You decontaminate it and don't use as much friction to remove it.

    What you are stating now vs originally are two different things.

    Also you can't polish matte.

    I don't like matte paint. I think it's supid. It is severely limited.

    But...

    You can clear bra it.
    You don't have to "paint correct" prior to clear bra.
    You don't have to use a polisher to remove adhesive.

    Would just suggest re-reading the two posts and consider the term polish with respect to removing adhesive includes by hand or machine - any mechanical approach. You can also use the term buff or rub. Removing glue residue leaves marks from directly rubbing it off or buffing off the solvent you might have used to do it chemically. Hope this helps.

    Look I don't want to get into a thing with you... I'm not sure I'm going to have to change your mind.

    I would like to say that I leased space to one of the number 1 clear bra places in the country and they are incredibly particular. They were actually next to the suite I kept so I spent a lot of time around them. I also did about a decade in a detail shop and can polish and color sand and buff etc....

    Yes we can have confusion on terms and to be honest and I don't mean to be rude what we say here isn't probably going to change anyone's minds and I don't want to be disrespectful to you or come across as some know it all. I learn new things every day.

    How I would deal with it is I would use solvents and as little and light of touch as possible and then you would use further rinses and treatments with the proper ph to get the any left over residual and cancel out the more harsh chemicals.

    But yes. You are right that matte finish is a pain. It takes extra attention.

    I honestly don't know why people don't just get the gloss color and then use the xpel "stealth" film to turn it matte. That is what I am doing on my sterato.

    You never have to polish to get the glue off, who would even do that? It makes no sense. Fully cured paint (matte or not) can withstand some harsh solvents, the glue that holds PPF to the car cannot. What I do (and which ALWAYS works) is after the PPF has been slowly removed with a heat gun, is to use RC electric motor spray or QD motor dryer. It is much less caustic than carb cleaner, spray degreaser or brake clean. It is just aggressive enough to easily melt the glue without harming the paint below.

    Products like "Goo Gone" while they won't harm the paint, also won't harm the glue residue either! QD Electric Motor Spray/Motor Dryer is what you want to use, it actually works and does not harm the paint.
