Are they trying to hide behind the "selling is not delivering" mantra ??? That is are they still delivering sold parts which were purchased (and possibly paid for) prior to "that Ukraine thing".
Russia (in both USSR and current form) are considered out enemy. Strictly speaking China, Iran, and Syria are also considered enemies. USA.gov occasionally lets companies based here to do business with enemies under strict sets of (constantly revised) rules. War only ups the penalty from civil to treason.
China our enemy ? It's more like a partner, IMO. Beside, US and Europe have their economies integrated with China. It's a huge market for us as well as a large supplier, not less for our respective car industries ! I read that Buick sells 5 times more cars in China than in the US, Cadillac sells 63% of its production in China (2021 figures), Ford sells more compacts in China than in the rest of the world, Lincoln sells more cars in China (where they also produce !) than in the USA, it's the same for Stellantis (Peugeot-Citoen-Jeep-Alfa-Dodge-Chrysler) that manufactures in China, etc ... Beside, most of the cabling, small electic motors, switches, plastic trimmings, instrumentation, and other components found on cars in the West come from ... China, so do ball bearings, small stampings, hoses, etc ... What about the steel from China ? I cannot see how the West could sever links with China without harming its economy. Maybe we should think about that. I think the shortage of electronic components (microchips) in the West following the closure of Chinese production due to Covid was an indication that we are very dependent from China.
Absolutely true. Our leaders long time ago ( in France) decided that industry was a bad thing and deliberately let our country be dependent from China. We will pay a huge price for their decisions.
Yep, the 2 top of the range French cars, the Citroen C5X and the DS9, are made in China ! That's a good indication of the state of play regarding China.
Could Haas become Alfa Romeo from 2024 ? This is what motorsport.com reveals in a recent article. Alfa Romeo could become Haas sponsor from next year, and rename the team. Both Sauber and Haas use Ferrari engines, so the technical collaboration between Gene Haas and Maranello could be maintained without interruption. On the face of it, it looks like a win-win solution for both parties, IF it ever happens It's only speculation at the moment, and Guenther Steiner pretends he doesn't know anything about such arrangement.
Current F1 team emerges as potential new Alfa Romeo partner after introductory talks Team emerges as potential new Alfa Romeo F1 partner after introductory talks : PlanetF1 The article mentions "contacts" between Gene Haas and the Alfa CEO at the occasion of the Monaco GP.
The Alfa sponsorship is finish at the end of this year, and Sauber will become Audi in 2026. I have no idea what the team will be called in between. Just Sauber perhaps ?
Haas expects to retain its current F1 drivers for 2024 Haas team principal Gunther Steiner says the American team has no plans to change its Formula 1 driving line-up of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg for 2024.
Keeping KMAG and the Hulk makes sense, I'm just still so amazed at the amount of publicity Schumacher continues to get. He had 2 years in a bad team and managed to do two things well: Beat Mazepin and crash, but neither of those accomplishments is enough to warrant continued driving in F1.
He was never a 'star'. He was slow winner and just did not show he has the edge to continue in F1. He should work towards another series. Hanging out at Mercedes is not raising his profile at all. He's just a sim driver. No team is looking at him as a driver full time.
Niki Lauda's son, Mathias, soon realised he couldn't emulate his father, so he wisely chose to do GT racing with Aston Martin instead. Mick Schumacher should have done the same, IMO. Maybe his career is over now. Beeing the "son of ..." can bring too much expectations and become a burden.
He had an amazing father and Mick is a great human being. He was not gifted with talent as his father. Thats how it goes in life sometimes.
But someone along the line should have instilled more realism in that young man. Guenther Steiner had to do it in the most brutal way, by telling him how it is, and sacking him. Even his uncle, Ralph Schumacher, is still saying to anyone who cares to listen, what great injustice it is that Mick isn't in F1.
Bruno Senna didn't fare to well either, despite his name. I get it, people want to see a family legacy. Adds spice somehow. Most of the time it just isn't there. Let's hope given Jos' history (recent and older) that Max doesn't emulate him too much as he gets older.
Steiner did his job as the Team Principle. No one should question that including Toto. He simply was not good enough. Had it been a different name Im thinking Guenther provides the same decision. It was clear to us here as well. He lacks the overall talent and F1 is not really in the mood to wait in many cases as well. Its life in F1. Ralf should be realistic about this but his emotional ties will not allow that at all.
You've never heard people talk a certain driver up because a close family member was a race winner/world champion? Really? You're sure about that? I'm not one to call a stranger a liar but.....
No, I have never heard it publicly. I think it's the wrong assumption to make that the child of a champion should follow him anyway. It happens in very few cases, and there is never any guarantee of success.
Ah, so when Mick Schumacher got his Superlicense and was ready for F1, you never heard anyone mention that Michael was his dad so he was expected to do well? Or people were excited what the child of a 7-time champion could do? Right. And OJ didn't do it.
You started about people wanting to see a family legacy. Well, I never heard anyone asking for that !!!
