The one in NC does a lot of work for NASCAR and can make just about any hose. They did a set of F1 hoses for a 575M owner.

Wow, that is some serious corrosion and degradation--was the car driven on salted roads?

Kudos for driving your car like it should be driven--in all weather.

I see several Ebay ads for 599 front shocks that are $338. They reference the Ferrari part number and state that they have magnetic ride control. Does anyone know if these are legit? It is hard to see in the photos if there is a connection at the top where the coil connector plugs onto the top of the rod. There is always the question of compatibility with the Ferrari control system etc...

I researched these before I bought my shocks from Eurospares. They are made in China and all the reviews said they were junk. The company is in Germany but they are not German made. My new shocks go on next week.

Thanks George. That is what I figured. I need to "stay on track" and use OEM parts anyway. It IS a 599 after all!

Anyone know of a spring compressor that will allow disassembly of the the shock and spring or is everyone buying loaded struts (with spring) or having them done by a shop, I'm replacing struts on an 08 and the boss only bought the shock with no springs against my advice, now I'm trying to remove the spring and well... yeah I can compress them but not enough to release the pressure on the rubber lower spring mount, ugh, thanks guys, this site has been such a help

(apologies for a 1.5 year old thread bump!)

We've been getting a lot of fake/Chinese 599 shocks from customers asking us to rebuild them... But they cannot be fixed unfortunately.

We can get 599 shocks remanufactured at Nagengast. Shoot me a DM or email at [email protected] if you need more info.

Can you post a pic of the fake shocks? Might be helpful if owners here can see what they look like, thank you for the information.

The whole problem with the rebuild is that the car needs to sit on someone's lift for a month! I replaced my shocks with OEM parts and now I have the original set to send to Nagengast with no time crunch.

You can always put it up on concrete blocks in your front yard. :D

I do like your idea. It is similar to what some FF owners are doing when their PTU fails. A company in the UK will send you a rebuilt one in exchange for your damaged one.

BTW, I am watching this thread because my 612 shocks are shot. I had a major service done on the car this winter. It included the shop sending my shocks to a company in CA that said they could rebuild them. When they got them, they said they couldn't do it, duh! By the time they came back it was too late to do anything as I was driving the car down to Amelia Island on Feb. 27th. So they just had to put them back in for now.

That is true. We are upping our inventory on Ferrari shocks so our customers don’t have to wait. We have that system with Audi R8 which is notorious for a magnetic ride shock failure and we can mail them out for 4-5 day delivery. I’ll check back here in a month once we have some 612 and 599 shocks on hand.

Did they say why couldn’t they do them? We fix those shocks on a very frequent basis.

Next time we have them - I’ll have some pictures taken so you guys can watch out on. We normally send them straight to trash.

Audi R8 forums have a few threads of owners trying out the eBay experimental shocks for $200 each and their cars start making strange noises within hours of driving, when the seals gave up and fake magnetic fluid blasts through the strut and their cars end up riding on springs instead. Simply awful, not worth risking your precious cars by saving $ on suspension like that.

If anyone wishes to get their shocks rebuilt - we can offer an expedited shipping to and from Poland and you should have your rebuilt shocks back within 2-3 weeks.

The car took bumps like I was driving a heavy duty pickup truck.

There was no leakage at all. Apparently the internal fluid was just tired.

I believe I have 2 that are leaking. I will work on getting them off and I will reach out to you. With taxes to do, it may be a couple of months.

Why would someone send $200 shocks for a $800 repair?
