355 The “Ultimate” F355 Exhaust system. Kreissieg (it wins).

I listened to some youtube clips and agree the KSG sounds really good, probably the best. Very textured, sophisticated sound. I'm pretty happy with my $2,800 Tubi Evolution though, if getting something a tiny bit more interesting is 6x the price.

 

Awesome! Fine choice!! I have their spiral pipe and its gorgeous.

Let us know how it is with the valve open, the straight pipe situation has made me hesitant to go for the muffler.

How does it work? Why does it have two valves?

I don’t hear much of anything in this vid. This must be a very tame version.

 

Tubi looks cheap compared to Kreissieg.

It’s great looking and clearly well-made. I’m just not convinced on the tone. It seems like it’d make your ears bleed.

Lucas most of the 348 vids if not all are the super howling version with valve open to the outside. The wonder wolf sounds amazing on the 348, no valves and is like the capristo stage 1 volume wise. So louder but not obscene but definitely higher pitched and does not sound like a boat idling.

Now 355 guys under 50 all chase super loud f1 sound that you hear on vids, at least for a few months till it gets old and thier ears ring.

The wonder wolf was what I tried to order, but I dont think i ever heard it. Shame. The use-case
for the the valved system seemed limited and the extra complexity was a turn off as well.

 

I was 26 when I had my 360 equipped with the top end Kreissieg exhaust system, I had to have paracetemol before and after every drive. Removed it after 12 months it was just ear splittingly loud.

 

Ha. Exactly my fear. Japanese car tuners aren’t exactly known for practicality.

 

Ya the top end one is the super howling F1 valved one, its really loud, but so are the other brands with valves open. They have non-valved ones, THOSE are the ones for the 348 at least.

Every 355 post I read about "which is the loudest F1 exhaust" and "I want it super loud so everyone hears me and looks at me" type post my I just shake my head. SUCH a bad idea.

 

You will shake your head for a longer period of time once you get tinnitus from the exhaust being too loud for too long.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.........eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee never goes away......................

 

A decade and a half ago I did CFD modeling of the F355 exhaust {and intakes, and cams, .....} and the best numbers I saw was 12-15 HP compared to a Ferrari (2.7) exhaust system (valve open).

Conversely, there was up to 40 HP available in the Helmholtz resonators and velocity stacks.

All on stock compression, stock cams, stock cam timing, with air filters, but it assumed perfect mixture and ignition.

 

I’ve driven an F430 with AP headers, straight pipes (or 200 cell cats … dont recall), Kriessieg X-pipe. Valve set to open. Sound was fantastic, but I didn’t think it was loud enough. It did sound better than my Scud, which has Capristo headers, straight pipe, and Inconel Kline X pipe muffler. I’m still mad that F430 sounds better . Best sounding F430 I’ve ever heard.

Generally, the 360 is higher pitched than the F430’s. Could be louder too, I’m not sure. X pipe muffler configurations seem to lower overall volume (noticeably) while increasing F1 pitch. They do add hp on the F430. I’d say about 10-20 rwhp. I felt it as soon as I changed out the stock muffler.

A 355 muffler will get you 5 rwhp if you’re lucky. It’s more about weight, sound, and looks. The hp would mainly come from de-catting the Y-pipe and primary cats, which is about 20 rwhp on a 2.7 car.


Kriessieg seems to have that magic touch, not sure what it is to be honest. Looking forward to hearing this system!!!

 

Good thing is if the muffler is too loud, you can always muffle the sound further by putting cats back on. I’ve never heard a loud 355 muffler with stock cats and stock Y-pipe.

I'm reading a lot of excitement here and I'm all for getting a shiny new toy.. especially one long waited for. But aren't we a little early to claim this is the best all be all? It's not even on the car yet or am I missing something?

X-pipes convert two 4 cylinders exhausts into one 8 cylinder exhaust.
That should add 1 octave to the pitch.
