I had a mega weekend, thought it was incredible.
I am wondering how this year's edition was in comparison to normal editions. Especially how does the number of racecars compare to other years, but als the amount of stands, visitors, cars and clubs on the bugatti circuit etc.
Thank you very much in advance!

235000 tickets were sold, 35000 more than last year's record so a major increase.
I could see and feel that all weekend.
The cars in quality and quantity were as is the norm, excellent, it is like that every time.

Here a rough cell phone photo at the Indianapolis Arnage section last night.

Clive Joy's 250LM. Spoke with him yesterday he was very happy with it. PS: a fake yes, like the Breadvan clone that raced this weekend, like the two GT40 MKIV, like the Cadillac le monstre and some other cars raced this weekend in the Sarthe but as I will always say I prefer watching an excellent tool room copy RACE than a real one in a concours or worse, an auction, which I call money porn.

That's correct. Just got back today and it was incredible. The organisation isn't too great (you know the Dutch expression "met de Franse slag") but overall it was well worth attending. Very crowded in the main areas, but there were some spots that were pleasant, like the karting track where the Group C and ERL cars were positioned before going onto the track. Very few people there.

What are your complaints about the organization exactly? Please translate your Dutch expression. Do you understand what it takes to create and manage such a gigantic event which blows Monterey into the weeds?
Your compatriot Hans Hugenholz whom I have known for decades is always hugely complimentary about LMC.

Let's see what you can do in tiny zandwoort;)

    Merci.

    Thank you very much!
Does that apply to the cars on the Bugatti circuit as wel? I liked the enormous amount of "exclusive" non-racecars as well.
I did not even see that those where replica's...

You parked right behind me, the camper that was a little big for the spot ;)

Haha, another cool coincidence. I was at the karting track a lot either. Could walk the grid there, had a nice chat with Peter Kox.

Marc, I have no doubt that participants are well taken care of and of course I'm aware of the huge task at hand organizing such an event. This was less obvious for the regular spectator or press. The Dutch expression could be compared with the laisser faire approach. As opposed to the Deutsche Gründlichkeit (German perfection). It can be a curse and a blessing at the same time. So I'm not complaining, just stating my experiences.
The Le Mans circuit and all its areas (paddocks, village etc) are quite difficult to navigate for those who don't know it well and although the people of the organisation are very friendly, most of the time they weren't helpful (couldn't point me to the right direction).

I don't do aything in Zandvoort. I love to drive there on track, but I stopped going as a spectator or a photographer years ago, as it is a pain in the butt to navigate.

One actual complaint about the Le Mans Classic: I was there with a friend and we bought tickets for a grandstand. At this particular grandstand they forgot the ticket control (as opposed to the other grandstands we saw), so anybody could sit there. That's not fair to those like us who did pay.

But let's not focus on the negative, overall it was a very positive experience I will never forget, with so many cars to admire. I will be processing my 5,500 plus pictures the coming days with great joy!

FYI Deutsche Gründlichkeit is not German "Perfection".
Gründlichkeit would be Thoroughness, but certainly not perfection.

I would agree with that first paragraph; as a first-time visitor to the circuit, finding my way around efficiently was difficult at times. It was much easier by Sunday as I knew my way around by then, but I guess that could be expected at such a large venue. GPS on the phone was super helpful here.

Surprised there was a grandstand without ticket control, that must have been a temporary lapse (not excusing it, and you are correct, that’s not right). My experience overall was that tickets were checked everywhere, even when asking an attendant a question. Overall I thought they handled that well.

I also had a fantastic time and will hopefully attend the next one. Now that I know “the lay of the land” it should be an ever better experience, but this was overall a fantastic first trip to Sarthe.

Here’s a few more random pics from the event.

Unfortunately, there are only two Ferrari clubs, Club Ferrari 400 and Ferrarista, and one private club Ferrari with no public access.

The last one I think was organized by Ferrari themselves, with a price tag of 24,000 euro for participants. There was a blue Purosangue among them.
