Long story short saw a sf90 spider today and dang it looked good. Really growing on me. Thinking of adding one to the garage. I doubt if any allocations are available but checking with dealer.

Assuming I’ll have to buy one second hand which I don’t mind- what if any options should I be on the lookout for? I want the racing seats but beyond that I’m not sure what are the “required” or “recommended” must have options.

I sold my Pista last year so am looking forward to adding a Ferrari back to the garage.

Assetto Fiorano for me is a must.

My issue with the AF package is we have an extremely steep driveway and I may need the lifter. My Pista and 488 rode high like a 4x4 so if sf90 is the same way, then it’s not an issue. But if it rides lower, not sure I can function without a lift which may rule out AF package. But good to know. Ty

AF is absolutely not a must. I wanted front lift and bumpy road mode for mine, so AF wasn’t an option for me. I have a steeply angled driveway as well and I use my front lift every time I come home. Either way, the car is amazing. You’ll love it.

I think you’ll be happier with a 296 based on your feedback on Porsches and McLarens we’ve both had. SF90 is heavy. Think Aventador heavy. AF package has no Schumacher button and sport seats were worse than GT3RS sport seats. Almost as bad as the early Huracan racing seats. Third one I bought has comfort seats and no AF package. It is better. The car is too heavy to be a track weapon or mountain twisty car. But as a cruiser it’s a cool 1,000hp Ferrari. But I think you’d prefer a more sporty car.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated x. Right now I think the 765 is the best car I’ve owned but obviously much different than an sf90. My use case for this car is something fun to take the wife out in. Crawling in and out of senna seats for her is not the definition of joy.

I thought about 296 but not in love with the styling. Sf90 has grown on me (used to hate the headlights) but it’s a lore substantial looking car. The other issue with 296 was I didn’t fit well. Felt very snug with lack of headroom. It’s the first Ferrari I’ve had an issue with space wise. However I will revisit 296 again and give it a consideration. Ty

One option that I was surprised to discover its usefulness: BRAD (Back Radar). Blind spot detection is very useful in the SF90.

I didn't go AF on mine for the same reason - I needed the front axle lifter. I don't regret it one bit, I use the lifter every single time I take the car out.

The CF seats are surprisingly comfortable but they aren't as easy to get in/out of, particularly in tight parking spaces when you don't have the door opened up all the way. Regardless I wouldn't order it without them. One side benefit though - where you'd normally have bolster wear from sliding in/out I believe I'm mostly rubbing up against carbon fiber which should hold up better.

The upgraded sound system is pretty great.

Most interior and exterior CF I think does a good job of fitting the character of the car. CarPlay should be standard on most (all?) MY22 cars, I believe MY23 cars should have wireless CarPlay.

Good luck with your search. It's a great car.

I see, I'd be looking into reshaping that driveway, I have done that exact thing, I reshaped the entire front entry to my house to make it sports car friendly LOL

One thing to add. I ordered the electric seats on both the 296 and SF90. Both are comfortable, but the 296 actually has more legroom with those seats. I have the SF90 driver’s seat as far back as it will go, and it still seems like I’m an almost an inch too close to the pedals. I’m only 5’9”, but I do have long legs relative to my height. But either way the 296 has more legroom with those seats. Just something to keep in mind.

Lol! I’d love to but it’s a hillside home. No option to redo driveway other than helicopter the cars up every time.

Crap! I’m 6’4”. 296 leg room wasn’t an issue- headroom was. Had no issues in my Pista.

Its problem is it has a longer nose. We have AF coupe (will be sold in favour of XX) and non-AF on our spider which has just arrived at the dealer and getting ppf’d. I can’t say how much of a demerit the non-AF is but I loved the AF car. I did have a major problem on a roadtrip with no lift though. Think TopGear in Paris except even worse. Could have killed one of my friends because of it too - went down a ramp, some wood was put at the bottom but not enough. So I did the obvious thing when I knew we had to put more wood in place - reverse. Except the reverse works on the front wheels and it shot the wood panels across the garage floor at incredible speed, narrowly missing friends’ Ferraris and a 70-year-old friend who was standing in front. Just don’t need that. After a long day’s driving we added an hour and a half of stress plus an overnight working out how to get the thing out in the morning instead of relaxing.

Those with non-AF cars seem to be as effusive about the SF90 as I and others with AF cars have been so I’m hoping the spider will be good (it turned out a lot more expensive than our coupe, even minus the AF kit, so I’m really hoping it’s still good). XX and non-AF Spider seem a better pairing anyway. And as we know, nothing so powerful as PPR - post-purchase-rationalisation (same family as man maths)!

This and CITZ interior option. I don’t think people are getting the SF90 unless they go for the AF setup with multimatic suspension. If lift is essentual retrofit the Novitec AF Suspension Lift kit

Ferrari wont let you down with either suspension option but my own feeling is without the AF if you really will push the car hard and you are in an area with a lot of little changes in road surface, you might conclude the same as I, which was the non car feels like the suspension can’t quite keep pace with the speed. However, we know it lacks the lifter and the bumpy road.

I also agree the 296 is more fun.

Suggestion: get a SF90 now and order a 296 to your taste?

You may be right, Im not sure if the GTS is entirely closed, and maybe its a situation where you buy the SF90 from the AD and someone backs out of their 296 order and then there is an opportunity for a worthy client.

Yes, as of many months ago - but like Caeruleus mentioned, people are canceling and there are spots here and there that come up.

That’s what I’ve been told as well. Have a deposit on 296 but not sure I can fit in the car. Was told there is a chance someone may drop out. Maybe that happens with Sf90 as well. Either way appreciate all the responses.

Well I'm sure with some assurances they can re-sell or consign your 296 they'd be happy to find that SF90 Spider spot ;)

To be clear- I don’t have an actual consignment for 296. They have my name on a list in case someone drops out (which I was told is likely) But it’s nothing official. So changing for SF90 will be no issue if that allocation becomes available. If not- I’ll go used. Plenty of them out there and I just want basic rosso corsa so no need for a crazy spec.

Agreed on the 765. Just added a spider to join the long held smoke white coupe.

Nice. Love it. I had actually thought about adding a coupe to my spider. Lol. But 2 mclarens currently is enough for the time being.

Btw- not to derail the thread but which do you prefer? 765 coupe or spider?

Coupe has only been tracked. Spider doesn’t make sense to bother tracking. I didn’t care for the Senna seats in 600LT so both have the 675 seats. Btw, the Senna GTR doesn’t have “Senna” seats.

Answer is coupe but horses for courses.

Not a fan of the P1 seats personally. I prefer senna but I know this is a big personal preference.

    Thanks for feedback.

Interesting thread. I’m debating a shuffle with the XX spider coming and it would entail selling my 765 spider and possibly giving up my sf90 spider on order too since they’re all too similar. Not entirely sure since we’ve also talked leaving one version up north but that would cut into my vintage car driving time in the summer so I’m torn on what to do.
