I find if you spend a little money on a nice cut or meat and with a little technique, you can make a prime rib at home that is better than most restaurants.
Probably the best microwave enchiladas I've ever had. First time I've had them in at least a year, but probably longer than that. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Definitely. There's a great prime rib thread somewhere on F-chat. T Here it is... Standing Rib Roast https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/index.php?threads/Standing-Rib-Roast.312588/

The company i was laid off from, we had our christmas party at Maestro's. I thought that was one of the worst steaks I've ever had. Nothing I had there was worth the cost. Glad I didn't pay!
BBQ peri peri spatchcock (poussin or baby chicken). Rubbed some peri peri seasoning then marinaded in medium hot peri peri sauce before BBQ. Served it with avocado, salad and silverbeet and or course extra peri peri sauce.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I took this to mean at a restaurant. I usually avoid steak when eating out for the simple reason that doing it at home is easier, cheaper, better, faster. But, if we had friends visiting, for example, who wanted to eat prime rib at a restaurant, I'd have to do a lot of asking around and Googling. Of course, we have a Lawry's in Dallas! Some times of the year, it's hard to find standing rib roast in grocery stores. I kind of think they stockpile them for holiday season. Finding prime is hard. Costco is best bet, I would guess, but I'm out of the loop on Costco. Since we got the F-450, the wife only goes once every other month and leaves me at home. Win!! [emoji2] I'm craving a rib roast after all this! T
That all sounds and looks very tasty. Had to Google silverbeet! Chard in the US. Grows well in our garden, although we skipped it this year to focus on chile peppers and maters. T
Hosting a bunch of family and friends this week, busy as heck cooking, organizing, etc, but took a minute to catch up here…haven’t had time to even snap pics of most meals here, but have a few… This was yesterday, and I say “yesterday” rather than “last night” because this cook started at 8am and we ate at 8pm…my first ever BBQ smoked pork shoulder. And it was amazing. Which I took to mean that smoking a pork shoulder must be idiot-proof because even I got it right on the first try. If I’m being a bit immodest, this was honestly better than every BBQ pulled pork I’ve had at any BBQ place around the country. So I say try this at home! I’m sad to report that the Foodie neighbors (tm) moved to Arizona. However, we invited them to join the family July 4th week and they drove their RV north and agreed to cook the meal that night; Nashville hot chicken with pimento mac n cheese and collared greens. (Chicken served on top of a slice of Texas toast with pickles) We had two small fryers and spent 2+ hours frying up 28 pieces of chicken… Great meal and a fun night! Pork shoulder is more forgiving than brisket, I find. Not sure I could give you a good reason though. What spices? Wood? T
Yeah, I haven't even attempted brisket yet. I'll try it someday, maybe later this summer... For this pork shoulder: Rub = slather yellow mustard, then a dry mixture of brown sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne Mop/basting sauce = olive oil, apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper and Louisiana hot sauce (boiled and cooked for 5 minutes) Wood = I'm on a pellet smoker, so I used 50% mesquite and 50% cherry (its what I had around)
Fast food and chain restaurants the last two weeks. Hence I haven't bothered posting. Tonight we'll probably get a pizza.
Pizza night for the visiting family. Made 6 pies. Went smoother than I feared. Best one was the margherita. Also had amazing Tres Leches cake made by a local Mexican friend. Another family visit meal was the obligatory (yucky) fish night. The two salads were good however. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
